AsRock XFast LAN

Does anyone use the AsRock XFast LAN? I have an AsRock X79 Extreme9 with two CAT6e cables, one from the GameBlaster, the other from the onboard. I see no difference between using one or the other or both. Do I need to alter the settings in AsRock XFast LAN? I have a Netgear N600 V2 and with TPG as the ISP. There are about 7 or so devices connected to the modem/router with the only wired device is my PC which uses two cables, all the other devices are wireless.

I've never really heard great things from dedicated 'gaming' NICs, so I don't think you would be noticing much of a difference mate.

XFast LAN looks pretty much like QoS on your desktop. It's just giving network priority to certain apps. It could help you out with some games. The same thing could be achieved by disabling programs and/or services that are unnecessary.

well if your we're wired to a local server then yes, other wise your internet (that i doubt is a gigabit anyway) is the bottleneck...

the name is purely a marketing gimmick (IMO) if you take the standpoint of looking from the consumer connections available in the uk, but obviously can't comment on australian isp's

The N600 is a dual-band gigabit router?

I know the Australian National Broadband Network isn't far off from my area which will greatly
increase internet speed.

No benefit to the home user in terms of speed.

Of course you can use it to have 2 networks going. 2 gateways aren't going to make any difference tho. Windows tends to use the one in any case.

Teaming on managed switches can be setup if you have the proper hardware. The home user doesn't usually subscribe to that sort of expense tho.

My motherboard supports Dual LAN with Teaming function with the bundled ASRock Game Blaster. So, using the port on my NIC as well as onboard will make no difference? What is the point then?

So running a cable into the NIC as well as onboard will make no difference, just creates more cable clutter (even though the cables are tied neatly to the back of my desk)? What is the point of it then?

I've teamed server NICs for fault tolerance and extra bandwidth. You don't need the extra bandwidth though. It will do you absolutely no good in your situation and may actually cause you issue. It'd be like driving an Indy car in a 25MPH zone.
