ARES CF ATI Driver problem, HELP !

You haven't got any other asus software (smart doctor etc.) running?

I've tried with smart doc and osd installed and without them. also tried both cards.

but still bsod whenever install any drivers...

i tried everything...

Should not have installed smart doc, thats where the problem lies it corrupts the driver. Thats why I told you to JUST install the driver on the disc nothing else. Otherwise I think you are going to have to return them mate and just use simpler cards as this may be a bit too advanced for you.

Yeah, I agree with you. I'm gonna try to reinstall Windows 7 and install just driver.

These cards are too New and already expected some problems.

well again , thank you so much helping me out tinytomlogan. :)

ps.

Question is without smartdoc the ARES can control FAN speed itself?

Yes, the cards can control their fan speed without the software. Smart doctor is basically an overclocking tool, and can cause untold amounts of grief.

Great. just uninstalled Smartdoc and others.

Also new ccc 10.7 is looking good. just installed successfully.

should I try to Crossfire ? lol

I wouldn't. firstly it isn't ares specific, secondly, I've just lost my crossfire option.

Really? how come CF option is lost ... damn..

yeah I will wait until ARES driver release.

this 10.7 driver is still good. no more BSOD lol.

It maybe that its my pc specific, but its a ballache right now

[edit]Fixed now, but it borked my sound drivers...and I've yet to see it do anything in 3d.

The normal driver works... I have told you 3 or 4 times CCC doesnt work.

I hate to be harsh dude but if you had followed our advice it would be working already.

As Tom has said multiple times.

DONT USE 3rd party Drivers ( Catalyst Control Centre is BAD )

use ONLY the "Display Driver" on the disk with out any other software installs from ASUS/ATI.

It would be best to do this from a Fresh install of windwos as u have corrupted ur driver set.

So....

1. Reinstall windows.

2. Install the "Display Driver Only" off the disk supplied with ARES

3. Crossfire "will not" work

Thx for advice br1th1shB33f :)

with fresh installed Windows 7 and just driver ( from ARES CD ) works fine.

question is when I choose just driver, there are 2 files I found which are C7_97029 & CH_97029

I just wasn't sure about those files...chosen C7_97029 to installed.

but still so far so good. no more BSOD :)

Anyway I thank to everyone who help out this problem.

We got there in the end. If you followed the advice from the start youd have had it sorted alot sooner fella.

The Ares disc should auto install the drivers for you, but DO NOT install any Catalyst programs from the ATI website (yet) and dont install any of the Asus programs on the disc. Also keep that 2nd GPU out of the system.

Id also say tbh send the 2nd one back as CF does not work, and I cant see that changing very soon dude. 4 gpu's never work that well together so spend the money on a 980x or something!

yes Sir ! :)

I'm gonna keep 2nd ARES. Maybe in the future Asus support 4 gpu driver. Hopely...

I had hell of time with ARES and BSOD. but I have learned something good.

I'm so glad to know you , best of best , cheers Overclock3d !
