Well, I have just been informed by apple that my iPhone is indeed broken for the 3 time in 8 months! First time the WiFi (5 days into having the phone). The second time the OS went CRAZY it decieded that I was not allowed to turn it off, all music had to be played full volume and I could not look at it for more then 30 seconds before it went into lock mode. And finally I get to this one, not only does it not like 3rd party headphone jacks or even apple ipod headphones it only likes to have iPhone headphones plugged in, they told me the do not support 3rd party headphones and because iPhone headphones work they cannot do anything. 2 weeks later the phone decides it does not like WiFi, again! So it will work for a few minutes then drop. So now I think o2 have capped me cos I had to download all my podcasts over 3g because iTunes crashes when syncing on win7!!! ARGH!!!! But hey I only have to re set up my phone for the 100th time and they are giving me another one in a week! but can you not just make something that works?

This is why I got a Nokia E71. The iphone is all show, no go. I tell my family off for buying them constantly, they must hate me!

Not had any issues at all like that with the iPhone weirdness. Only one I've had is a crack that they replaced the phone for.

obviously the phones just hate me! I do not abuse them either they just constantly break. The Motorola V3 I had was exactly the same, eventually I just put it through the wash!

Thought of updating firmware?

It all sounds like internall software problems so I'm guessing it could have something to do with firmware.

Wifi channels being overly populated generally give disconnections for any wifi device. Best to just find another channel to use.

I like mine. Only issue I have with it is ur locked down, no file exploring etc, and itunes - but hey, I can live with it up to this point, and there are meant to be ways around those points ;)

Leopard is sweet.

*wanders into thread*

I've got an old Sony and it makes calls and does texts. More than enough for my needs. Either that or my terminal lack of cash makes me believe I don't need a posh phone.

(I have to use posh because the censor filter is amazingly sensitive. Luckily I don't live in certain South Humberside town)

There are legal 'apple approved' app to do this without jailbreak...

It only lets you mess about on the storage partition though and not os partition.

lol @ everyone who thinks that the iPhone is "all show and no go"..... BAHAHAHAH Jealous much???? Yeah, keep denying it, but, maybe one day you're broke ass can afford one. :p

Oh yeah, I recently had my 3G S run over by numerous cars in a 2 hour period in the middle of the road before I realized I had left it on the roof of my car.... After coming back, finding it still in one piece (thanks to my OtterBox Defender case) it still works like new minus the 2 cracks in the screen which are very hard to notice unless you hold it in the right light.

If I wanted one I could afford one, that's not the issue. I think you're totally missing the point, but never mind.

This argument has been made millions of times, but everyone still seems happy to pay well over the odds to own a pretty large, bulky piece of bling. It's also incredibly frustrating to use if you wan't to do anything vaugely intelligent, if you can even do it at all. You can't change the battery or expand the storage - why? You have to jailbreak it to install any 3rd party apps, there's little (read no) choice of supplier, and their contracts are a total rip. The camera is also terrible (my E71's basic camera gets better shots) and for some reason, it has never had features you'd expect in a massively expensive phone until they release a whole new model, like voice dialling and exchange support. Also the firmware updates have been doing more harm than good, and it looks like you won't be getting mobile flash 10 support when everyone else does.

There's not an app for everything either, like one to stop you looking like a fool when you're playing with your iphone light sabre or paying through the nose to get the thing fixed when it inevitably goes wrong. Perhaps Apple should introduce those.

/Rant

As you can see, I'm not a fan. Nothing personal at all though, it's the phone I hate, not you!

Oh, and before you say, I've used the phones loads of times, two of my family have them (and are still paying for them in the 24 month contract), hence why I have an opinion on them.

Don't get me wrong, the iphone has some nice points, like the presentation of the OS is swish (not that it's important to me in a phone) and at least apple have introduced MMS. The screen is very nice too, but the whole thing stinks of, 'let's make a phone and tick the main feature boxes and then sell the whole thing on marketing hype without making a decent finished product'.

Maybe that's the end of the rant now, sorry guys.

*sigh*

Closing thread, getting bored of these arguments, least of all because everyeone I know who owns a piephone thinks it's the best phone (and device), they've ever owned. Including me.
