I thought I'd start a poll to see who has apple hardware and also who is interested in the upcoming products like the iPhone etc

I love the OS but dont own the hardware as it's too expensive to buy all in one go, especially seeing as it won't play my games as well as I like

Best OS in history IMO. We just need better game support, or for CrossOver to become mainstream and fully capable of running all games without taking a big performance hit.

That's possible with Mac Pro now that it uses Intel proccies and runs with standard PC components. Easy sleaze to upgrade procs, memory, video card(s), hard drives, all the goodies

It would be nice if games developers stuck to OpenGL etc instead of directx tho so cross-platform would actually be viable.

I was running WoW with cedega/wine on linux until the Warden stuff went over the top with its logging etc fps went down to more than half of the norm and nearly quarter of what I got in windows.

One thing I don't like aswell is that I own 3 PC games which are supposedly supported on MAC, but I cannot play them without buying them again at a higher price. Unlike with linux where you can just install the binary/patch.

Any x86 based machine mate. OSX86 project supports just about any combination of hardware.

I`d delete `running`, the last thing that was installed on my AmigaPPC was apple stuff, prior to that I tried Redhat, but it`s still on the floor in the corner of the room (for a few networking reasons)

Macintosh is a solid OS, I've got a machine with OS 10.3.9 on it. I haven't used it in a while though. My biggest complaint about Mac OS (correct me if this has been changed in newer versions) is that it hides so much from the user. For example, you cannot log in as root. That kind of thing bothers me. Not that Windows doesn't hide things, but it's easier to figure out issues with Windows. Then again, you could also argue that Mac OS has less issues to begin with.

EDIT: Just realized, this is a pretty old thread. I didn't notice until it was too late. Oh well.

I kind of agree, Mac OSX makes it easier not to screw your PC up

I like macs over PCs, but they are overpriced.

OSX makes, for me, a great business machine, having a Unix base, and MS office to read the exchange emails.. lovely
