I'm looking at going to new zealand next year and wondered if anyone had any recommendations of where to stay. We're looking to move around a bit. So would like some good scenary and somewhere with good nightlife ect.

Ta!

Ah way down south to the 'Land of the long white cloud'....why not sunny Queensland? Queensland has gorgeous women (parking meter ladies in bikini's all year round :D), tropical weather depending on where you are, awesome night life and a PV!

AS for NZ I've been there many times, just not recently. The South Island is simply beautiful but the North Island has its special places too. How long are you looking at going for? Are you into hiking and climbing? Some places to go:

* Christchurch (touristy stuff)

* Aukland (night life and place where they shot the movie "Once were warriors")

* Rotarua (touristy stuff)

* Lake Taupo (breathtakingly beautiful)

* Bay of Islands

* Franz Joseph Glacier (you simply must check it out...absolutely awe inspiring) or Fox Glacier

* Mt Cook (highest mountain in NZ)

* Queenstown (they used to have a massive cable car, but dunno if it's still there)

Tourism New Zealand are always advertising on the tele, and they are very good. Check out their website it may help. Anything else I can help with don't hesitate to ask.

p.s Look at getting yourself a motor home/camper they are really cheap to hire and it means you can come and go whenever you please.

Ta!

can i come? :)

I went for a year when i was 5 :D I can remember loving it, they have a very good way of bringing up their kids. They don't cushion them from danger, and therefore kids learn fast how to be sensible. My uncle (came with us) threw a fit when he saw us using real hammers, nails and sandpaper in the nursery school!

Firstly, thanks for the advice!

We're going for 2-3 weeks, going with my little step brother, his grandad lives there so we're staying with him for a week. (he lives in the north island in the middle somewhere).

We've only decided one thing and thats we want to go sandboarding. I want to see some nice veiws.

Sorry to bring this up. But we're having to book our flights now and i've been searching for the last couple of hours for the best deal. Tried everything google has thrown at me.

Basically London to Auckland its looking like £750+. Would you say this is a good price, if not does anyone know of any good cheap flight sites?

Many ta's!

I'm not familiar with any of the UK based airlines other than Virgin and our QANTAS. You could perhaps look at flying to AUS and then getting a flight to NZ as an alternative to a direct flight. I know that Aus to NZ is very cheap atm.

yeah, i've been looking at buying flights from aus/nz sites. But not found many that much cheaper. We'll be there for 3 weeks, so we may even pop over to austrailia!

All the flights are costing about £700 +

Cheers for the advice peevs and happy new year to you!

Well, booked my flight yesterday! I'm going to new zealand!! woohooo. We travel out on the 1st nov to the 20th. Should be wicked!! my dad even paid for my flights, how nice is that!

Sorry mate, I've only just now seen this thread again. That's great news and I hope you really enjoy your trip. :) How did you decide to run with your flight? Direct or a stop in Aus first?

was only kidding with my last post!!!

Most flights coming from the UK have a stop. We're flying with korean airways, checked up on the leg room and there meant to be pretty good. On the way back we get a 4* hotel included in the price, it will be nice to get a rest and try to get used to the time changes. the stop off's are at seoul or something. I really cant wait, i've even been reading history books. Being a brit and with what happened i dont feel the best now!

Although we've agree'd we're going to do the world biggest bunji jump!!, its 134m and im gonna have a dip in the water at the end of it!!

Wow that's awesome. Have a heap of fun :)

With regards to the history between the English and the Māori it is very interesting. Yeah things happened that most certainly shouldn't have, but hey, it's happened throughout the ages.

Just to get you all revved up for your trip

Haka and again
