Hello,

I have gotten a bit of an interest in bikes/motorcycles and thought it would be fun and interesting to see if there's anyone in OC3D that rides?...

What kind of motorcycles do you guys have, post a picture then of your beauty! :)

I ride mate, I currently have a 2011 CBR600f.

I was a founding member of the Masonic Motorcycle Association of Australia but I don't ride as it's too dangerous with morons on the road, it's scary enough in a car let alone a bike.

After losing two very close dear friends to motorcyle accidents I was put off. I used to have a Vespa with crash bars and mirrors (and the Who coat) but after coming off of it twice (oil on road and man who drove straight over me without looking) I gave up.

Death rockets. And 90% of the time when a rider dies it was down to a careless car driver. Yeah, no thanks dood.

you're right most of the time its down to silly drivers that cause accidents, i wouldn't call them death rockets though mate you can't go through life risk free

I take plenty of risks. However, they are calculated risks with the onus being on me to mess up and hurt myself.

However, you can not calculate a risk that is 90% loaded in some one else's hands. And that is usually how bikers meet their end, because of some one else.

You can't predict stupid.

Comes to mind here.

My now ex wife had to deal with a man who died in her arms. Was obviously bombing down a country road in Wiltshire, tractor reversed out onto the road. Didn't stand a chance...

I agree I've had a women open a car door on me, she wasn't happy about the dent I put in it when I kicked it shut with Steel toecap boots on

My first crash was on a 3 lane road. We had been to Box Hill, it was the middle of summer so all I had on was shorts and my crash helmet. Yeah, I'm stupid. I've still got the scars and missing freckles to prove it.

Any way that day my mate crashed his RD 125. He was going too fast and came up on a corner too fast and he came off. He was a right state. We decide to take a slow ride home, stopping every few miles for him to rest. His arms were covered in rash.

Any way, we stop on a 3 lane road. It wasn't a motorway just a B road. I had a 100CC Vespa at the time. As I indicated and pulled out of the layby onto the slow lane a pikey in a open back transit went from the fast lane to the slow lane. He didn't see me, and literally drove over me. The back of his van jammed my hand between the bars on the bike and his pickup bed. I was trying desperately to yank my left hand free as it was being crushed. Of course, when I finally yanked it free I was left with one hand and the force threw me off balance so I went over the bars.

The rash was so deep that the entire of my arms from the wrist to the elbow were scalped. I had to sit for weeks with my elbows on my thighs with my arms pointing upward to stop the scabs from cracking and pulling my arm hairs out. Of course the pikey wasn't insured, and promptly left the scene. The number plate he was using was false.

I've still got the scars on my left hand. They look like puncture wounds. And my arms are missing 90% of the freckles that used to be on there.

About six months later I decided to fix up the bike. I repainted it in mint and orange and it looked sweet. Took it out for a ride, got to a roundabout, leaned to take the turn and next thing I knew I was smacked into the central reservation. Took a while for me to work out I had hit an oil patch.

I stopped riding after that. Have not been on a motorcycle since. Crashing a BMX is bad enough and I have been laid up for weeks after breaking arms/wrists/fingers etc, but crashing a motorbike sucks the biggest old hairy set of balls known to man. You slam fifty times harder than you ever do on any BMX.

Thats mine.

With it's dyno numbers.

The 3 together, only have the R1 now the other 2 have been sold on they were 99 R6 and 03 Sv1000s.

97 Fireblade, first bike after passing test. :D

"You can't predict stupid" sorry mate I have to disagree,I have avoided many accidents by doing just that and your intuition with it gets better the more you work on it.

Seriously though man why ride with no jacket and in shorts or gloves, that man is asking for trouble setting out with that carefree of an attitude is dangerous in itself.

If you're ever bored rigid one day here's a link to the album of pictures I took when I stripped it down completely, and rebuilt it with all new bearings and seals and had most of the metalwork powder coated. That was a labour of love.
