antec truepower 650w modular making crackling noises :(

my antec psu is making a crackling sound that is louder than my fans on high speed

the noise is even there when shut down and i cant see what is causing it. should i return it to overclockers? i broughtt at the beginning of december so would it still be ok to return it?

any help is appreciated

I'd definitely return it before it messes up the rest of your hardware, doesn't sound like a healthy PSU.

Side note: Is it the actual unit making the noise or the cable at the back?

just sent a webnote to overclockers now

do you think i shoudl try and return it for a deiiferent psu such as a be quiet? erm if i shut off my pc and remove the cable the noise goes but im 99% sure its the power supply. should i try another cable?

Yeah defo try another cable. If the same thing occurs it's most likely the PSU itself.

right tried a different (cheaper) cable and its perfect 0.0 the cable was kinked towards the connector

No problem mate. I've had a few dodgy power cables in the past, also made me think it was the unit itself that was the issue at first.
