antec tricool fans fan controller

I bought one of these:

I know it says 3pin to 4pin but the molex can connect both male and female ends, so my question was is it possible to connect the fan to the molex, then the 3pin end to my fan controller, tried it but it didnt work is this because it has the fan control L,M,H on it already? The fan wires are missing the yellow cable which goes to the fan controller.

Does the fan power up if you dont use the molex and just use the 3pin?

I would think it depends on how your fan controller limits the fan, and if you're willing to mod the fan to cut out the speed switch from it

It's because the yellow wire is seperated, so it doesn't know how much RPM it needs so it wont do anything.
