IMHO - that is awful

  1. rough
  2. non-parallel cuts
  3. cuts are not straight

i hope this is a practise run on a spare panel

Maybe you could try getting it laser or water cut...... Then you'd have nice smooth and symmetrical cuts, most schools have them, colleges too, or you can see if there are any local small manufacturing company's that would do it for you....

lasercut for a typical window like this will be a waste of money.

if it was for a difficult and really detailed shape ,acrylic sheet , aluminum sheet for a grill then Ok. but not for this one

a dremel for the first cut , a jigsaw, a file and a steady hand is all needed to make it perfect

doesn't look like you marked it of, Keep trying and don't let this deter you, after all you could give it a better go by making it bigger

I know its hard not to just jump in and start cutting, just take your time, the only thing

between you and a kickass new window is your patience bro

Good luck, keep us posted on your progress.

Get a Jigsaw with an 18 teeth/inch metal blade , tape off your panel with low-tack masking tape , draw your cut on , drill a hole for your blade , concentrate , try to be accurate and cut that sucker !

carpenters saying: measure twice ... cut once

remember... what you take off, cannot be put back on!

before proceeding any further with your modding... practise on the pieces of side panel that you have already butchered cut off.

A few tips.

Use masking tape, this makes it easy to mark out the cut. And also protect the paint work when you are doing the cut its self.

If using a jigsaw with a blade that the teeth cut on the upstroke.

Like this one.

Then mark out the window and do the cutting on the inside of the panel. Thsi will mean that you will have a nice clean cut on the outside.

If using a blade that cuts on the downstroke. like this

Then mark up your windows and do the cut from the outside. Again his will give you a nice decent cut.

When cutting get a cardboard box and stick the side panel on it, to do the cutting. this will stop the side panel from rattling and bending wile cutting.

Dremels are good. But a a nice jigsaw blade and a set up like above, is 10 times faster and neater. and you will hardly have to do any cleaning up of the edges.

+1 Jigsaws FTW !

Should fix up nicely and if he's adding U channel then most of the mess won't be seen

Major Kudos though for you first forray into the world of modding. It wasn't too long ago I did exactly that mod as one of my first steps down the modding trail

Keep the faith and Mod On.
