Got an OCZ DDR Booster back from RMA this morning, put it in, fired up, had a wee tweak and..BANG! I knew not all of my computer would come out alive so after a wee sulk, and waiting for my flatmate to leave the buiilding, I started subbing my bits in to his rig. SOMEHOW....my memory is still fine, as is my GPU. My motherboard appears to have died

I was expecting my Memory to be dead from having too much juice put through it, but it looks like the Mobo took the hit. Saw what I tihnk was a flash of light come from the memory slots, and a weird smell filled the air.

Just thought Id share the agony. It seems that the DDR Boosters readout lags the actual voltage a little... so when I was adjesting the knob, the displayed value was still catching up.

Think i`m gonna stick with my 9NDA3+....was hoping to buy a PCP+C, so naturally something liek this happens to swallow the funds

damn, that sucks big time m8. Guess its the fragile world of computers...also no chance of any warrenties then?

I might try and remove the volt-mods and see if the board looks unmolested afterwards. If I think I can get an RMA, I`ll sell on the spare Epox at a good price. Already bought the replacement cheap, waiting for Parcelfarce to do their thing...

How many volts were you putting through the ram at the time?

Voltage readout on the DDR Booster said 3.3. I`m surprised it was the mobo that died, not the memory... I`m also lucky coz the RAM is easily twice as much.

Have just posted on an Epox forum that I`m guessing some of the mobos VDIMM components are at the limit of their tolerance around 3.3V... why built the mobo using components with capabilities the mobo wont use....that would add to the price for very little reason. stock VDIMM on the board is 2.8V, but I successfully got it to 3.15V with a volt-mod.

, tonight ill be on all night. Cause tmrw i can only be on at night and friday im packing my PC away so my mum can decorate. i will then be in Germany for 2 weeks before comign back to paly CSS again. Basically im gonna be s**t but such is life ^^
