well killed a 16gb 3gs a few months ago then dad gave me his jalibroken 32gb 3gs last night and my sister decided while it was pluged into laptop charging to let it update on itues! >< guess what BRICKED always searching for network even when no sim card inserted etc oh well back to htc ><

Did she know it was jailbroken? You may or may not like talking to certain members of your family but it saves a lot of hassle when they know certain tech they are not to touch

Well if it was the OS that was screwed you could always re-install, but i jailbreaked my dads first gen iPhone, wich now doesn't work because i can't update it via itunes

Use DFU mode. I've "bricked" sooo many iPhone messing with Jailbreak. Even updating with Apple's own firmware I've seen them become unresponsive. DFU has always fixed it for me.
