Thanks man! I'm really looking forward to getting the Intel Extreme memory tomorrow. I'm really loving the look of it more and more and all the reviews I've seen have been really positive.

I haven't done the cables yet but I may pull it out and fiddle with it a bit this evening :)

I've also got a couple more packs of those nice low profile cable mounting bases and I ordered another one of those NZXT sleeved LED's in white. I don't know how much difference it will make but this time I ordered it from amazon just in case they have a different batch there. Hopefully this time it works. If this one flickers too I may get my dad to wire it up without the dimmer because that is what causes the dimming problems and just have it on all the time, but I hope i dont have to do that because i like having the on off switch and the dimmer.


I'll add some pictures if I do re route my front panel cables this evening (I know i will at this point because now that i've seen what you did i have to do it ;) you know how it is :p

II have done the cables (the front panel ones anyway, i might do the usb too) I have pictures of that I just need to upload them then I will have an updates.

I picked up the new memory today and I will have an update on that shortly as well.

i had a laugh earlier i found the box for my dad's first laptop back in 1995, look at those specs ;)

I love all this, everyone waiting far parts, cracking on with their builds and sharing at every stage !! don't worry folks its just me going soft in my old age, i am waiting for about 4 different consignments from god knows where now I have lost track !! :wacko:

Tidying front panel I/O wires

First of all I'd like to thank CPMFW for putting the idea in my head to do this with his cable management job. He was the one who did this first in his build.

So after I saw this I knew I would have to do it.

This is my current cables around the back, which is not great I'll admit. I added in the USB3's in after and I had to use an adapter so it's pretty bulky. I will see what I can do about tiding up that later.

Up until now my front panel IO wires where coming in through the grommet under the motherboard and I never liked how this looked.

The Corsair 650D has another grommet along the bottom above the ones that line up with a normal ATX motherboard, these are for smaller motherboards.

I brought the IO wires in through there, then fished them down along behind the motherhood and out the bottom one by one.

this is what i had done with the front usb previously, but i ended up switching it over to the red powered usb header and doing it a little differently

Nice job with the wires Andre , I think I'm going to do the same thing ( if you don't mind me using your idea ) , It does look alot neater.
Hey what model number memory did you get? Was it PVI316G213C1QK Intel Extreme Masters 4x4gb DDR3 2133 ?
I think that was one of the kits I was looking at when I was getting stuff , but I didn't know anything about Patriot memory.

thanks man! dont worry it wasn't even my idea :P

the patriot intel extreme stuff is really good and it does 2133 MHz at 1.5V which is lower than a lot of the other 2133 MHz kits, a lot of them are still 1.65V

Not sure what the model number is it's 2X kits of 8GB so 4X 4GB sticks as far as I know there is only one kit of 8gb at 2133mhz and then one at 1866mhz and one 1600mhz and then there is also 16gb kits of each speed. i got 2 kits of 8 because they didnt have the 16gb kits in stick but its the same price for the 16gb kit as 2 8gb kits

the number you mentioned seems like it may be specific to each kit but like i said i think there is only one of each speed and capacity.

all of the reviews i've seen have been very positive.

thanks :) i agree. even though it's really not a very long route that it has to go through the grommet, there is just something about it that i never liked the look of. it's nice to see that most cases now are using black for the front panel IO wires, not sure why they still use the multi colors for usb 2, but it's pretty short the amount visible so not a big deal plus i dont mind the way it's routed.

i have another white 2m nxzt led kit coming from amazon in a few days plus i got a couple packs of the heavy duty mounting brackets to use instead of the very small clips that come with it, so i will have a lighting update as soon as i get that delivered.

I also want to take a moment to complain about rubber feet in general that are attached via double sided sticky tape because they NEVER last and they always come off eventually

why is it so hard to design a set of rubber feet that are screwed in so they will NEVER come off?

the only place i've ever seen the rubber feet screwed in is on the unibody mac book pro.

my death adder mouse is missing a few of it's feet (it will be replaced soon with a RAT i think) and all of the feet have just fallen off of my keyboard and i just taped them back on which obviously does not provide any grip its just so i dont loose them.

i understand feet taped on for cheaper keyboards but for premium priced keyboards i'd like to see something better like screwed on feet.

I'm thinking of getting usb and sound extetion cables so they´re all black maybe braided aswell... just for the little touch :)
I'm also waiting for led strips to be delivered... i 've ordered 5 metres of waterproof cutable led strip so i can cut them where i need to. something like this:

hey guys

i believe ive found out the problem with this current setup. i have no idea why i didn't notice this soon, but for some reason i did not.

the voltages for the mpower board are way off, the 12V is only at 9V and in addition to that all of the voltages have massive spikes.


this is a screenshot of the voltages for my laster motherboard, the sabertooth x58, everything looks pretty normal to me so that indicates that the power supply is working properly.

Now have a look a tthe voltages with the current mpower motherboard


as you can see the current value for the 12V is only 9V, but it has recorded a spike of 22.4V, 10.7V for the 5V, and 2V from the CPU vcore.

I am going to go on monday in to the store and see about getting the board replaced, if i can't get it done in store i guess i will have to send it to msi.
 
Uuuu, nice voltages...
Deffo something have to be wrong.
After I seen your picture, I checked what are volts on my, and they are fine.


MSI should replace it no problem.
