AMD's "Zen/Summit Ridge" CPUs coming 2016

Back on topic guys, what do you guys think AMD's new CPU will be like? Will it be back to single cores or a new variant of their Modules concept.

Can AMD do anything about hyper threading? Could they ever try something like that?
All I want is for AMD to have strong single threaded performance with a good bit of room for overclocking.

The thing is they won't need single threaded performance as much. DX12 will use more threads/cores and be more efficient at evening the load across them. All DX before then were heavily single threaded which caused AMDs main weakness to shine more. DX12 should help eliminate that and W10 hopefully as on OS is more core friendly as well. Gaming side i don't think it's much an issue. It's everything else like encoding/decoding H.265 or rendering video/audio etc in comparison to intel.

Really really hope this goes well. I so long for the Athlon 64 days, or at least some good competition. Stop Intel releasing the same damn thing for another 4 years in a row.

Intel said the exact same thing with Pentium 4... look when it ended up.

Single thread performance is THE MOST important part of x86 CPU.
It's one of the reasons AMD's FX lineup sucks so badly compared to Intel's offerings.
"Moar Coares" approach won't work so well, when single core performance is bad.

Guess you didn't read the whole post

But, as I mentioned before, the FX competitor isn't coming this year, it's 2016. Think on this. Maybe intel may bring something as the first mainstream i7 5770K hexa core, hyper threaded. How will AMD compete with their probably not as powerful cores, speaking of single core performance. AMD may speak as much as they want, but in a single generation they won't beat intel's machine that comes up with new cores evry year when, I'm not sure, but 4 or 5 years will be bast since the current FX's.

heard anything about possible DDR3/DDR4 Hybrid support? I'm depending on it as i might be looking to switch to the red side as soon as these come out, and i remember that they did DDR2/DDR3 with the phenoms?.

Still wanting that 10-12 Core though..
