This is more power than most consumers need. I can't imagine how big threadripper is going to be if the normal ones will be 24 cores.

It will be much like things are now with AMD CPUs, with 8-cores being more than enough for most people, and the 16-core being for people who want to put their PCs to work.

TBH, it is good to have more CPU cores in a single CCD before having to do the latency hop for even higher core counts. A larger default L3 cache pool is also nice. If AMD can pair this with single-threaded throughput gains, Zen 6 will be awesome.

As for Threadripper, the folks who can afford it and want even more cores will love it. I miss the days when Threadripper was more accessible, but those days are past. AMD isn't discount Intel anymore.

TBH, I am interested in seeing what an 8-core Zen 6 will look like. Will that be the new Ryzen 5? I'm also interested in seeing if Intel has improved its chiplet interconnect. Reduced DRAM latencies would be HUGE for some workloads. Improved bandwidth may also be good for dual-CCD models.

There have been a lot of leaks about Zen 6, but it will be fascinating to see how the real product performs.
