AMD responds to Asetek Cease & Desist order for the R9 Fury X

AMD has responded to Asetek's Cease & Desist order for the R9 Fury X, saying that the a jury has already found that the Cooler Master Cooler they use does not infringe on any Asetek patents.

if a jury already found its not the same. i find it hard to understand why asetek's legal department would wast the energy with the cease and desist. i cant fathom why they would go to any lengths at all. also how does it affect the 980ti's that have similar/same aios

I'm glad I called that one right lol.

I think Asetek is just using a shot gun approach trying to get as much money as they can.
 
Tricky situation though, I understand everyone's displease with Asetek telling AMD to stop selling the Fury X as AMD as a GPU company have very little to do with how the closed AIOs are made and this will greatly affect them as a company.

On the other hand I understand Asetek as well. How would you feel if another company used your patented way of making something to copy your products and then sell it for cheaper so they get all the sales?
 
Astetek were probably asked for a quote and lost to Cooler Master.

AMD have used Asetek for many years, most notably as bundle in coolers with their 8 core Bulldozers and Piledrivers.

So yeah, I can see why Asetek are peeved.
