I can't wait until we get one in for review here

First thing i thought was 'jezze its long!' But after seeing its no longer than the 9800GTX. I think it must be an illusion bought on by the cooler design.

U can`t have it, the samples draw too much power and u`ll get shouted at :p

"AMD asked us not to show the idle power use"

It`s a decent throw into the mix as an x2 card. It beats the nVidia single card in some games, and in others it beats it by 5 frames average. It`s very strange to me how a set of results favor one camp and another favors the other. Obviously different engines for different things.

What I`d like to know is how the reviewer guy, with his power meter that uses the wall socket, got a reading of 212W on his 3850 rig.

From reviews I read, it seemed the 4870X2 beat just about everything nvidia had to offer (short of GTX 280 SLI configs, and even that sometimes). The only exceptions were games like Crysis. But wow, look at GRID!

Agreed. I've read all the previews and the results generally favour the 4870X2, but some games don't look too impressive.

There are a number of reasons for that; immature drivers and bios for one and the 4 game thing. Depending on which games were selected (some have good CF support, others don't) favoured nvidia or ati. Where the CF profile was there the X2 whooped/beat the 280/280 sli configs, no profile they still did ok to be fair.

The G200 refresh thing is coming, 320? W/e, beefier 280, perhaps the new ultra? I need a 'GX2 killer'. I guess mid Aug we'll see...

You have to bear in mind the games being reviewed and the crazy resolutions at which they`re being run at.

I notice nVidia are happy Oblivion isn`t being used much. And it`s all too easy to bank on Crysis results for a long time and then switch opinions once they produce badly for a newer card.. then switch to something new, like GRID perhaps if it heavily favors the card in question.

This is what`s messing us about with no solid benchmarker of any respectable nature.

Still stick to a single core card imo.
