AMD Radeon 7870- Power/ heat - Performance

Still a damn good price now TBH, cheaper than a 580/7950 by £100 and when overclocked beats a stock 7950!

Think i know what im going to end up swapping my stand in 5870 out for when i finish off my build, the 5870 is still a solid performer but the 1gb vram is a major ball ache in skyrim/bf3 even on a single screen and i can see it becoming more of an issue in the next 12-18 months with more new releases coming out.

Lets hope Tom does some Eyefinity tests once the OC3D review pops up *hint hint nudge nudge*.

Yea, lets hope Tom can get a review up soon, I think it is looking like a superb card. I'm seriously considering getting one now and doing CF in the future.

Once again nvidia is too late with new releases.Thats going to hurt them if they dont have something else than gtx670 ti in their sleeves.

1(one) 6pin power on the 7850 is damn good for a midrange graphics card, considering how well its performing.

Same here, considering a crossfire setup with two of these babies now.

Hopefully will be swapping my 4890 out for a 7870 when they actually hit the shelves, it looks like an amazing performer for it's price!

Its got a lot of headroom for OC'ing, just like the 7950 and 7970.

IKR!!! even though the bit-tech review didn't really show it, other reviewers have had the card at 1200+. To show how confident AMD are in it's overclocking ability, the limit on the sliders in CCC is 1400Mhz and the memory is 1450Mhz!!!!!!! INSANE!!!!!! but i think the memory can do a lot better as a few reviewers are hitting the limit on the memory. I think the slider limits on the 7850 are too low though as 1050Mhz core is nothing on these cards!

I'm sure that there will be other bits of software that can give you more freedom when OC'ing them. I reckon underwater they will be a good card.

An amazing card

. It will still be very good at around the £275 mark given the performance.

I'm still waiting to see Nvidia's offerings but this card is the one I have my eyes on at the moment. Price to performance is bang on considering it overclocks to just under a 7970 with no effort, it's going to be interesting to see what these can do under water as well.

Yea man, I want a new card, but I'm keeping myself from buying one to see if, one the prices come down, or two, the Vidya can bring out something even better.

This might just be the card I'll use in my next build, paired with an i7-3770k and probably something like a MSI Z77-GD65. Will first have to wait and see what NV will do though!

Does anybody know whether there is an OC3D review of the 7870 coming or not? I'd like to know TTL's thoughts on these cards. Or did I somehow miss it?

Tom most likely has vendor cards, Asus, Gigabyte etc and can't go live until they launch on the 19th.
