Amd or Intel

I've got 2 old mainboard & cpu that i want to use but i don't know wich one

1) Msi K9A2VM + Amd Phenom X3 8450

2) Foxconn p35A S + Intel core 2 Duo E6750

Don't know wich one is the best or faster or should i try to found another processor for this mainboard

The 8450 is a fairly low clock speed if i remember rightly around 2.1-2.2Ghz? id go with the e6750 personally as a 2.6 C2D would be faster even tho the X3 has an extra core.

What is the system going to be used for btw?

Only for two things internet and some gaming but nothing big

I'm using the amd for the moment with an ati 4830 graphic card + 4 gig mem and that's enough for me to play games

Only thing i want to change is install 64 bit windows instead of 32 bit

Both motherboards are fairly basic so i doubt either will have many bios settings that alow for much tweaking for overclocking so it probably would be more confusing than anything else so dont worry about it.

An X3 at 2.8 fails to match a Core2Duo at 3.0 and is around 5-40% slower depending on the game going from memory, so the gap between a x3 at 2.1 and a c2d at 2.6 will be alot more noticeable and should give a noticeable boost in performance for everything you throw at it.

i would use the intel option i used a p35 board and a e8400 for years played any game i threw at it another option would be to sell both bards and both chips on ebay and get some new gear . also can you not unlock a core on the amd chip or is that the newer chips

Thx for your help

Then i'll take the intel option :-)

Don't believe anyone want's to buy this old stuff :-)

The intel is from my father and the Amd is mine so now i can take the best of both

Got 4 x 1 gig ddr2 modules,2 x 512mb ddr modules, 2 x hdd sata 640, 2 x videocards (ati4830 and geforce 8600gt but the ati is much better)

Gonna see if i can found some info about the overclocking, i've never done that before :-(
