AMD Or Intel CPU For Gaming

The intel would definitely be better there.

Games prefer per core performance over more cores/threads. 4 threads runs any game, very few games will make use of more (some take 6 but 4 threads is not a limit and won't be for ages).

If you look at this review you can see that having extra cores does precisely bugger all for gaming performance

Therefore http://www.ebuyer.co...0-fd4170frgubox would be much better for gaming than the 8120 because it runs faster per core.

But you should always pick your gpu first for gaming. If your budget is under £700-£800 dependig on parts you already own then go for a top gpu with a basic 4 core AMD cp. If you have 800+ go for the intel i5. By the time you get to the £1200-1400 budget you should be looking for the i5 with 2 top gpus.

I have a 560 Ti and thinking of sli'ing 2x560ti just need to get one more, im very happy with the gpu i have already, i just need a cpu and board. but reasonably cheep and amazing.

Well technically a 4170 (or overclocking a 4100 to the same as a 4170) will do what you need for £140-180 whereas getting an i5 with a z77 mobo will cost about £300. If you have the budget then go for intel - it is defo worth the money.

Also - have you got an SSD? That will improve the feel of your pc more than the difference in cpus for you.

Well i have a q6600 and its slightly sluggish now, i want to upgrade so i have the power, and no i dont have an ssd yet. but i will soon have one

get the i5 you will not regret it. the system will cost a lot more, but everytime you use it you will know that you have a very good pc, if you use the amd, you will always be wishing you got the intel.
