AMD Motherboards PCIe

Hi guys, I'm building a new PC and I wanted either an FX 4170 or an FX 6200 CPU, accompanied with a 7770/possibly a 7850, however 7770/7850's are PCIe 3.0, but AMD Motherboards don't support PCIe 3.0?

Any advice on what I should do? There are plenty of superb Intel Motherboard's, but an Intel Motherboard won't really help when I'm wanting an AMD CPU..

>_>

yes i'm sure, you won't really notice any difference
i'm pretty sure every motherboard has them, but you plug your screen into the GPU so i don't even look at the display connectiors on a mobo

Yeah, there are barely any (if any at all) that even max out the PCIe 2.0 speeds. Even something high-end, like a 7950-7970 would be fine in a 2.0 slot. Maybe 2FPS difference tops, if there's any difference at all.

A low end card like the 7770 will definitely be fine :)

Not that it matters but.....

Yeah, 3.0 READY...

But wasn't the PCIe controller supposed to be in the CPU? AMD processors don't have it, I think D:

Yeah.. Except that's a £140 Motherboard. Kind of ruins the element of a budget >_<

lol, yea, thats the main reason why I chose Intel for my 2nd (current) build

£140 + FX-8350 (£150) = £290 ish - AMD

i5-3570K (£140 processor only) + Z77X-D3H (£100) = £240 - Intel.

No Brainer!

As said already though, the difference in fps loss using a PCI-E 3.0 card in a 2.0 slot is barely noticable

PCIe 3.0 Will bring you no difference. Hence why I went AMD Route and didn't care for the new Gen 3.0 Sabertooth.

The only difference for when you'll see the advantage of PCIe 3.0 is when your running more then two cards across multiple displays.

fx-8350 and 3570k are in a completely different league. you can't compare it like that, because the 8350 will blast a 3570k in a lot of scenarios.

yea I know :) , both have strong points and depending on intended use depends which CPU to get.

In regard to the budget and PCI-e 3.0, Intel was the much better option (in my case anyway) as is the extra £50 in my pocket. :)
