AMD may be bought out

first oracle, then apple and now dell.

there is something going on at amd hq as theres a lot of "amd for sale" smoke wafting about and it needs to come from somewhere.

it would make sense for dell or appl to own their own chip maker but im not too sure what the monopoly commission would make of it, they make all their own kit and intel gets the rest of the world? cant see it myself.

If dell buys AMD then... Intel will be the only party I would buy from to say the least. I am sure Intel is loving this news.

This is pretty interesting, even tough it is just rumors at the moment, although something this big doesn't come out of no where so there must be some truth to it.

As for the affect on us the consumer, it depends on what Devil can bring to the table and if they can pull something out the bag to make Intel pull something even bigger out of theirs.

Well, these rumours will artificially bump up the share prices for AMD for better or worse

.

Now depending on what company buys out AMD it will lead to different possibilities.

Dell buys out AMD = GG The world shall end.

Apple buys out AMD = New range of Apple products that run AMD, more stable since people buy iMacs and stuff for OS X and the badge, not really for the specs.

Qualcomm = WTF???

Oracle = More funding being shifted towards Opteron and less into regular desktop.

If dell buy AMD its game over. Intel and Nvidia will be the only viable choice.

I mean c'mon look at how they ruined Alienware (although imho it wasnt great before hand)

Remember kids, Dell = Evil.

But I doubt AMD will let itself be bought out, if it does, it suggest it has some serious problems with either Bulldozer or AMD Fusion, or both of them and they require an escape plan. But with all these stats AMD is pumping out about Bulldozer, shareholders and the company board won't tell out, unless they get offered a bucket load of money, like enough to buy half of Canada and Hawaii or something.

Bulldozer does seem pretty strong, no reason for AMD to cop out

You have got to be kidding Dell have made Alienware just about reputable before they were bought their build quality was beyond appalling, customer service was frankly none existent and they were priced far top high. Dell at least have rectified most of the problems i still wouldn't buy one but Dell have in no doubt improved the company. As to Dell buying out AMD i cant see it plus Dell would then put themselves in an awkward position with Intel.

Tell that to the dozens of angry Youtubers who bought an M series laptop
