AMD fan replacement

Hi all

I have a AMD 2800 Barton cpu with stock fan. I find the fan very load and its causing me ear problems. Can anyone suggest a cheap but quiet alternative fan replacement?

Just had a look on there, seems fairly cheap as well. Just ordered a Ebuyer extra value CLA-XP28 AMD Cooler for £3.49 + P&P not bad. That will do just fine for the kids PC.

This has set me off again now

Honestly, I can't hear a squeak from my stock fan. I have to keep checking to see if it's still turning.

I wonder if the fans are made by third party manufacturers and some are not as good as others. The problem with changing the fan is, if AMD find out they void the 3yr warranty on the PIB's. If it's an OEM CPU then you still keep the 1yr warranty. Might be worth contacting AMD to see what they say.

my amd fan got theifed for the family pc to replace the poxy small arse fan that was on the p4 in it for better cooling lol

i've started to avoid ebuyer, they screwed too much up for me in the past. But some of those screw ups have been caused by

Its funny how things differ from area to area. Around here Citylink is BY FAR the best courier and I go out of my way to look for websites that use them.

The next time you get a new AMD cooler I recommend the ARTI FREEZER PRO 64.

I didn't think about the 3yr warranty but I don't have a proof of purchase for that one anyway. The one I purchased from Ebuyer last night is a fan and heat-sink for £3.49 not bad.

If your stock fan is so quiet compared to everyone Else's, have you ever checked the voltage from your motherboard to the fan to make sure you have the full voltage.

Dunno about the other fans but AC fans will be quiet even when over-volted, their bearing system and rubber mountings are a step ahead of nearly all quiet fans, definitely worth looking into if youre going for a quiet build

Everythings fine according to ASUS Utility. I think I've just been lucky in getting a quiet fan. I notice there doesn't seem to be a lot of play in the bearing compared to my mates AMD fan, which is quite noisy too.

Every so often my PIII rig will start going *zoom zoom zoom zoom* and driving me crazy:crazy:

What do you mean buy integrated onto the chip?

Its an AMD 2800 + Barton and the heat-sink and fan sit on top of the chip after the chip is installed. Its not part of the CPU.
