Amd Bulldozer cpu

Will you guys class Bulldozer better than SB if they just match SB for speed but are 20% cheaper.

Will be close to the intel SB-E then. Really exited about how good these FX cpu's will be. If they are 25-35% better then 2600k i might stick with amd a while longer. But ofcource they need to be better overall in many benches and not just games.

None of the initial FX CPUs are going to be 25-35% better than a 2600K, Enhanced might be. I seriously wonder what gives you this idea that the FX chips could be that much faster on a process that AMD has just started and that Intel is perfecting.

Of course... That's the name of the game, price:performance.

If it has the same computing power, but is 20% less expensive how is not better?

AMD is losing me here. At this rate, I could be saving for SB-E, or just regular 1155 SB. They're delaying BD because of performance issues, now they're having production problems. WTF AMD?

What gives you the idea that they wont? As fast as technology is moving it would not supirse me. And no one is near perfecting anything, maybe better off but FAR from perfecting.

"Sources among retailers told DonanimHaber that retail prices of AMD's next generation performance desktop processor series, the AMD FX, are a lot lower than expected. On October 12, AMD will launch three new parts worldwide, the eight-core FX-8150, FX-8120, and six-core FX-6120, priced at US $245, $205, and $175".

These will have a gpu built in right? so it is going to be interesting to see witch gpu's that can be combined with it, in crossifre/sli or with that lucid hydra thingy.

I hate the waiting on both the Ivy and Bulldozer cpu's

My god, $245 for the 8150? z0mg can't wait..... So glad I bought an AM3+ mobo now, lol.

I just hope the shoddy 4 +2 phase power on this board can handle that 8 core goodness with at least a mild overclock.

I may have a Sabertooth in my near future even though I just got this M5A97 a week ago.

Dam the sabertooth does look great i can’t decide between that and the formula v.

I'm still up in the air over this. I'm very tempted to sit it out and wait for a couple of reasons:

I'm definitely going to hang on for a few months to see where the benchmarks settle down at and allow and issues to appear and the other processors in the family to be released. I'm sure that the price/performance scale will be fantastic but I'd still like to see exactly what I'm buying.

The other concern I have is the socket, I've heard rumours that enhanced will be needing a new one (FM2) and if that's true then I'll be interested in seeing how backwards compatible it is and whether the performance will scale with the cpu. I'd loathe to buy a new mobo (which I need anyway) only for it to limit the power of an enhanced bd. Of course that all depends on whether the enhanced is released later...I wouldn't be surprised if it was released Q1 2013 now, which is a long time to sit on my formula IV so I might just buy a new mobo and processor anyway lol.

Sums up my thoughts

Well AMD might win on price/performance but... intel already about to release SB-E series for performance seekers. He're new specs:

IF the previous post were real bench results on BD, and if that i7-3960x just barely nudges ahead. Intel lost.

Once AMD releases BD and results are equal to that of the Bench results previously posted and if Intel SB/E is barley ahead. It safe to say that $999 processor will be $400 VERY soon, unless intel wants to drop out of the consumer market.
