Hi all, first post here on the forums but I read them every day:)

I thought it would be the Thames XT and Thames Pro which will be replacing the 6870 and 6850 that would cost that so I'm wondering if pitcairn will be more or less powerful or if there is just some wrong info.

The release dates do look realistic as the article suggests. Really looking forward to seeing how they perform and the new liquid chamber cooling sounds interesting

AMD have changed things up a bit, apparently the 79xx series will be re-brands first lot of 7 series cars will be re-brands of the existing entry level cards like they did with the 6xxx series, but with extra memory. Too many rumors floating around at the moment we need some proper facts.

EDIT: not the 79XX series ^^^ I got that mixed up lol

I'm curious to see how the next generation (AMD southern islands, NV kepler) performs in regard to thermal power. I hope they both decide to cut down on power consumption and not push it all for clock rates and performance. Idle power consumption will be very interesting aswell.

I hope they do that on the lower end cards (560ti equivalent) and then just give the 670/80 raw horse powah.

Whatever they do, if the 7970 matches the 6990 for raw performance like they say it will, coupled with the hopefully lowered TDP from the new process, these boards are gonna be killer from both sides!

You reckon the 7 series will push lower end GPU prices down? SO need to upgrade the 9500gt just can't spend more then £40/£50.

Maybe look at second hand card? Those who upgrade more often might have an older one spare. I for example have a gtx 275 catching dust.
