Amazon prime heads up

If any one has had a prime account on Amazon, that they cancelled either last year or after the months free trial, I would urge you to check your bank account to make sure you haven't been charged for a full years subscription. I have just checked my account only to have 2 payments come out 1 for £52.33, and another for £1.22. Both of these payments came out for a prime account that was cancelled last year. To confuse things more the payment was taken out in $ and the small payment was for the exchange from £ to $ which is odd in itself as I have never even opened an amazon.com page ever only ever .UK.

From the girls response and tone on the phone, it seems like i was not the only person that this has happened to. It all went to smoothly, when requesting a refund. I get suspicious when people agree to give you money back so easily. Just thought a quick heads up on what they are trying to pull. Good luck

Oh gawd... I used the Prime trial the other week for free next day delivery and cancelled my subscription, hope this has not happened to me also.

BRB checking CC statements.

EDIT: No charges on my account but i'll have to check at the end of my Prime trial incase they still charge me for it.

That's good news mate.

I done the exact same thing, used once in November last year, and cancelled, Checked statement to see if a refund showed up, from an rma, only to find it had arrived only to be taken by Amazon. They were nice enough about it though, and issued a refund straight away.

Fingers crossed for next month.

Their customer service is pretty good, and by the sounds of it that's still the case. I imagine this was a system screw up which they're covering as and when people notice...
Least they're refunding it no questions asked etc.

They didn't give a reason mate, but they issued a refund last night, and it showed up on my card at around 6pm today. great customer service, can't fault them for that.

I'm on the trial at the moment, but I've disabled the auto renewal option, so hopefully I don't get charged if I don't want to continue prime.

My mother got caught out with it about a year ago. Amazon dealt with it without quibble and refunded the charge.
