Am starting my watercooling Project today

Hi Guys

I have received all my watercooling parts in the post this morning so I thought I would get started.

The first question I have, should the fans on the Rad be blowing thru the rad or should they be blowing into the case???

Really depends on if you have a decent exhaust if your pulling clean air into the case.

What you need to avoid is positive air pressure in the case as heat will build and dust may settle further building heat.

As you mention post up some pics and we can advise better.

My system I pull air in over my thermo pa120.3 and vent out the rear with a 140 fan backed up with 2 no. 80mm fans extracting air from my hard drives. Then again I've chosen one of the most awkward cases to cool with water

Installing the Heatkiller Waterblock, I have been informed it needs to be tightened to 19.6mm Man thats hard

With the corsair you want them exhausting outside hayles, its a good idea to flip the rear fan around so it is blowing in aswell as that case is starved of air. Eeven thought you are WC'ing you still need airflow for the ran, nb ect.

Blowing into the rad, or pulling through the rad makes next to no difference. As long as the flow is heading out of the case thats all that matters. And yes have the rear fan blowing IN the case, especially where you wont have the GPU dumping its hot load outthe back it will help keep the airpreasure in the case better. Please make sure you change the 140mm intake fan in the bottom too as its useless.

Tom that post sounds so dirty when you read it the wrong way! I'd agree with you though, you wanna get all the intake you can into the corsair not-so-mini oven.

I don't wanna start an argument or derail the thread but I've found the opposite to what lasher is suggesting, positive airflow with filtered intakes will actually reduce the ammount of dust in the case, as negative pressure wil slowly pull air (and dust) in through every available orifice instead of forcing it in through a filter. If you've got 3 120mm fans exhausting out the top of the case the rig will need all the fresh air it can get.

Anyway back on topic, that heatkiller's looking lovely Hayley, I'm looking forward to seeing how this build turns out.

I just tell our lass to get the Hoover out more often!

Havnt had any dust issues so far, but then again my rigs usually in bits and getting altered so often dust hasn't got a hope in hell of gathering

I really don't know why I didn't buy a bench table the amount of times the sides are off my rig.

Anyhow back on topic, keep us updated with pics Haley.

Good luck with this - I'm going to be watercooling my own rig for the first time some time after February when all my luscious old (but new to me!) kit arrives, so there will be some n00bular questions when this stuff arrives...
