How much did the hardware upgrade cost all together for you?

Ermm.. Not sure I really want to know.. But here goes

£190 Gfx card

£160 CPU

£50 PSU

£60 HDD

£50 RAM

£120 Motherboard

£50 CPU Cooler and fans

£15 DVD Drive

£60 Vista

Looking at £700 there in all.. With maybe a bit more going on postage etc..

In all I'm happy with it, I've got it running at 3 gig on the stock voltage without it getting excessivly warm :)

Going to be having a little more action here, ordered a Coolermaster CM690 today along with a couple more fans.

Welcome distraction to exams I think :)

That case is cool. I was stuck on choosing which case to go for between the Coolermaster CM690 and the Lian-li PC-7AYCF. I went with the Lian-li, I wouldn't mind that case even though the Lian-li isn't giving me any problems.

You should bear in mind that (I Think) Coolermaster do sell Transparent Side Panel for that case and others also.

At that end of the day it looked like the best case I could realistically afford. Got a few neat features, so really if its got similar performance to something nearer the top end of the market but with minor faults and maybe poorer construction/weight I'll take it happily.

EDIT: This one looks very excellent imo: http://www.overclock.net/computer-c...picture-discussion-thread-28.html#post3211739

Looking at the several Coolermaster 690 cases I would guess that you set your eyes on the custom white one. The white one definately has a custom DIY window. Why go through all of that if you could get a Lian-Li that comes with the window. On top of all that the Lian-Li costs a few quid more than the Coolermaster.

BTW

Which AMD processor were u using b4 jumping onto the quadcore league

Yeah the white one. But wheres the fun if theres no modding :D

Before the quad core I had an athlon 3000+ @ 2.5 ghz. Then upgraded to a 3700+ which would only clock to 2.4ghz without getting extra steamy. D'oh. Never got a dual core AMD, if I had I'd still probably have it. Both of the old setups are now passed on to the family. Only really getting used to the intel now, always have the feeling that its a little frail, but always recovers from a bad oc with no problems :)

I think that you should best go for Lian-Li as everything u want is in the setup and another advantage is that its aluminium so heat shouldn't be a problem for that case.

Cheers guys, thanks for all the comments :)

Consider this a bumpety bump, got a few new photos of the new case on the first post. Enjoy!

Bit of a bump.. got some new photos on the first post with some of the hamfisted modding thats been going on this week.

And also, whats the tool I need to be cutting the steel panels of the case with? Just needing to chop some bits out for better cable routing.

Got drills, jigsaw and even angle grinder at home if its coming to that..

Cheers for looking!
