Alienware VS Custom pc

I still maintain that certain things are invisible if you don't see them.

When I built my Tiburon I did every last part of it.Alone, single handed. I ripped out the seats dash and carpet. I replaced the seats with butterfly racing seats and airplane harnesses. I cut into the dash and fitted a DVD player, screen, head unit, parametric EQ and then colour coded the entire interior blue and black. I removed the heater vents in the doors and replaced the vents with 3.5" mids. I removed the stock speakers and replaced the entire high stage with Clif designs. The engine came out, a high lift cam, lightweight pulleys and a turbo fitted. I put in platinum spark plugs, 11mm silicon racing wires and mustang injectors.

I then shaved and debadged the entire body, relocating the fogs and fitting black tinted/red strobes into the original fogs. I meshed in the front to stop rocks hitting the IC. Then I painted it in holographic paint. Then the audio system went in, 0 awg power cables, 8f cap, three amplifiers and a folded horn enclosure for the 1500w JBL pro series subwoofer.

Then I ordered my Kspec parts from Korea and waited nervously, in the interim fitting a 10 inch overhead screen into the roof.

Then the Tenzo passions went on and vented discs and ceramic brakes.

It took me two years. You could have eaten your dinner of of any part of the car.

I then sold it to a chick who didn't have to lift a finger.

The only saving grace was that by doing it all myself I got it done cheap. I waited for parts to come up, chose my moments and pounced when I needed to. The stereo system was powered by Phoenix Gold and Cerwin Vega amps, and so on. However, I've seen people spend $40k doing the same thing to a Tibruon by paying mechanics, audio technicians, wheel specialists and paint shops. And none of them ever said "crap, I could have done it myself like you did cheaper !"

I still have scars on my hands and arms from doing all that work. I had to leave work at 8am (working nights) before going straight to the chop shop and then working until 8pm. Otherwise my dream car would never have been a reality.

If I had the opportunity to sit back and let some one else do it because I could have afforded to? Absolutely.

When you buy a pre built you are not just buying parts. You are paying for some one to put it together. You are paying for the single box it comes in, the manual, onsite warranty, factories it was built in. You are paying for the guys at the other end of the phones. You are paying for the guy that comes to your house should it go wrong. You are paying for R&D into the unique case you just got (how many OEMs even have a unique case without shoving a badge on a corsair or something?) and so on and so on.

If you spend your life sitting around picking the peanuts out of poo to save a few bucks then you can NEVER appreciate anything.

I can not even tell you how nice it is to like, have the money to make the problems some one elses. You go on a website and a week or two later you open a box, plug in the power and you are off. A whole warrantied period of no worries at all.

God, your last comment was just so....I cannot even define how utterly wrong it is. I do not wan't a PC that's inside looks like straight arse, and wiring is a big part of that, if it not done right is a computer that is not worth buying, enough said.

If you want to sit here and argue over who is right or wrong we will be here forever. The funny part, though, is that you will end up wrong. I've seen people with your narrow minded point of view say the same thing for twelve years. The hilarity of course is that Alienware are still here doing what they do. For every one verbal person like yourself saying how much they suck there are a thousand perfectly satisfied customers.

As for whether or not it is worth buying? that, my friend, is up to the person with the money. For every Alienware argument there is a counter argument. For every self build argument there is a counter argument. So, you tell me, who is right or wrong?

No one.

And *that* is what you seem to be missing.

Look. If I was some n00b z0mFG prick who had no idea how to build a computer and I came here with my new Alienware gleefully tossing off over how fantastic it was? then your argument may have grounds.

Au contraire I have thirty years of PC building experience, coupled with five years of running a business under my belt. Not only can I talk the talk but I can walk the walk too. My latest mod being sponsored by Specialtech. I've done a good few mods too, one of them appearing in a magazine.

Yet, due to my open minded nature and wisdom I can stop myself from foaming at the mouth and taking a single side. What was it I got when I returned the other day? Oh yeah ! I was a fanboy. Let me put it this way. You will never, ever, meet some one who doesn't come under that term more than me. From memory I have written numerous articles here that cover pretty much everything you could want to know from all sides of the computing globe. Quadfire, is it worth it? how well does crossfire perform? is physx worth it and does adding a second GPU add to the experience?

You will find it awfully hard to fit me into a category as I have never been naive or dumb enough to line myself up to be fitted into one. Everything in life has a use and a purpose, and should I not like something I won't feel the need to continually keep going on and on about it. Glass half full.

1: Comparing building a PC to building a car is completely wrong, two sets of difficulty, anyone can learn to build a PC, not everyone can learn to build a car.

2:I agree with you, there are several of satisfied customers who overpayed for there computers, all because they where not properly informed on the matter. I mean, I love alienware's cases, I even plan to get ether the Aurora ALX or the Area 51 ALX on ebay and build a great gaming computer in them. You are also very right, it is a never ending argument. It really is all up to the individuality of the person and what he or she wants to do.

3:You seem to be straying into tangent that are not apart of this set argument of how horrible Alienware's are outside of there looks. Graphics have nothing to do with this Argument, that was on another topic so please stick to the one at hand.

1: Comparing building a PC to building a car is completely wrong, two sets of difficulty, anyone can learn to build a PC, not everyone can learn to build a car.

Rubbish.

I'd never even owned a car, let alone worked on one. I was 27 when I got my first car. Well, 'got' would be too polite. Dragged rotting from a field where it had been for three years would be closer to the truth. I got myself a Haynes manual, replaced the starter, battery, muffler and brakes and it ran. I then stripped it back and prepped it before spraying it. Again, by reading tutorials and the directions on the paint. From memory I managed to paint it Raspberry Kameleon House of kolor for about $450. And I had never even held a spray gun in my life. I even had to research how the air to paint mixture works.

So I disagree. Then I went onto building a second car. One that came with a transmission failure and leak. Again, shop manual, took the bottom of of the trans and replaced the filters and O rings and then finally the main gasket. Worked like a champ. I even managed to get the alarm system working again by finding out what model it was and getting the manual for that.

If it wasn't possible we would have no mechanics. If brain surgery wasn't possible we would have no brain surgeons. Any one can do anything they set their mind to right? that's what you guys continue to try and hammer home with me in an attempt to like, debunk my theories or outsmart me yes?

The problem right from the moment I set foot in this thread is that you just don't get it. Man can indeed do anything he sets his mind to. That doesn't mean he can be bothered to, nor would want to spend months learning to.

Does that finally make sense? has it sunk in now? good. When I did my first car I was out of work and had little to no money. Thus, I had to work it out. HAD to. Not wanted to. Some people don't want to have to.

It's nothing to do with being informed. Look, when I take my car to a garage and they charge me £200 to replace, say, my brake pads I am fully aware that the pads themselves are about twenty quid. However, I am also aware that you have to lift the car up, remove the wheels, take apart the calipers and then put it all back together. Possibly having to bleed the brakes if the old pads were worn and the brake piston won't go back. I know all of that. Does it stop me paying some grease monkey two hundred quid or whatever to do it? does it heck.

What you are saying now is that people buy Alienwares because they were not well informed. Maybe they can't be bothered to be informed or really couldn't give a monkeys about being informed.

Like, maybe, they had a few grand to burn and like, bought a computer? Why is that so hard to understand? When you buy food do you read every single bloody label and write down all of the ingredients before going off to research what they are before you put it in your body?

Of course not. You pay for it, open your mouth and shove it in. Why? because you'd be completely analy thick or have major OCD if you didn't.

As I have maintained, over and over again, some people have the money to spend. They then spend it. They CBA picking peanuts out of crap to save themselves a couple of hundred bucks because they don't need to. It really is that crushingly simple.

I could set here and argue with you till days end but, changing the mind of a fanboy is completely impossible it seems, so how bout we shift the subject back to something that interest, That Tiburon of yours. I plan to get an 08 GT version and I was wondering, what Engine Modifications would you recommend? I was actually thinking of completely removing the engine and placing one of the Nascar Truck V8 Engines inside of it, not sure if it will fit tho, it fit in a Scion TC so I think it should. The Engine will output 700HP and that would be a nice little blow back in the seat

FFS what is it with you and fanboy? is that your way of reasoning, to call some one a fanboy?

Has some one gentically programmed you? mov_567 "fanboy" ?

Just because some one likes something it doesn't mean they are a fanboy. I have three computers sitting around me, one is an Alienware. Oddly enough it's also been the most reliable and easy to live with. It just seems with you that just because you don't like something you automatically feel that the entire world should listen to you and not like it too. It doesn't work like that. Sooner or later you have to accept that people have different taste and different reasons and just roll with it.

The newer Tiburons are foreign to me. I had the 98 RD designed by Porsche and didn't really like the GK and onward.

I would say though that it's never worth buying a car and then changing something like the engine. Boost it, mod it, but if you're going to get that involved then just buy something with the same BHP (or WHP for Americans) and you'll save a fortune. Get yourself a WRX STI. Far easier to get more horsepower out of without going mental. Hyundai engines can not be remapped and it usually involves using a piggy back ECU. Something which is less than ideal, given that the stock ECU wants to reset itself every three months (long story). Running the turbo on mine (which oddly enough came from an STI) was a nightmare and it ended up coming off.

.-. Sad Face, I really like the new Tiburon, love it actually. This is the body kit I found for it http://www.andysautosport.com/hyundai/2003_2008_tiburon/exterior/body_kits/sarona/

Then plan to put Vertical Doors on it and just blow heads at School and at Work.

Well....I was actually thinking of completely replacing the engine once I had the time and money I planned to try to put in A Nascar Truck Engine V8, gonna also convert the Engine to a Fuel Injection.

Engine Specs: * Engine Displacement: 358in³ (5.8L) Pushrod V8

* Transmission: 4 Speed Manual

* Weight: 3400 pounds. Minimum without driver, with fuel

* Power Output: 650-700hp (485-522kw)

* Fuel: 98 octane unleaded gasoline standarded by Sunoco

* Fuel Capacity: 18 U.S. Gallons

* Fuel Delivery: Carburetion

* Compression Ratio: 12:1

* Aspiration: Naturally aspirated

* Carburetor size: 390 Cubic Feet per Minute (184 Liters per Second) 4 Barrel

* Wheelbase: 112in (2.8m)

* Steering: Power, recirculating ball

* Tires: Goodyear slick tires

* Length: 5286 mm

* Height: 51 inches

* Width: 73 inches

I figured hell if they can do that to a Scion TC I sure as hell can do it to a Tiburon.

For the U.K readers looking in Scion = rebranded slightly cheaper Toyota...

Yeah the Scions are OK. I kinda liked that odd little box van thing they were doing.. B? can't remember. Few of my friends dub slammed them haha.

If you want muscle I would just go muscle tbh.. Something along the lines of a Saleen Mustang and get it super charged and tuned.

No I mean, like I plan to put that in a Tiburon and use the Tiburon for drift. At the moment I am having to hunt around the damn globe just to find a 07-08 model XD Well a GT is hard to find, trash GS are everywhere. All I really need at the moment is something that is Ascetically pleasing and still has decent speed, The Tiburon with that body kit is amazing and just what I like but, if you have any ideas for other cars I am up for it.

We used to have a Toyota Paseo 2nd gen, and a 2nd gen Toyota Previa (though I'm sure its called something else in America).

Now because of my dad's work its all VW/Audi.

I'm just curious as to why you want to get a Tiburon for drifting, and then do an engine swap. Don't they have a 4 cyclinder already?

I think the newer tibs had the option of 4cyl turbo or a V8.. Well, that's what was rumoured in 2008 any way. Been off the scene since then (crashed mine and had to fix and sell it) so not looked into it. From memory though they were U.S only and renamed Genesis or something?

http://machinespider.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/11/2012-Hyundai-Genesis-Coupe-3.jpg

Genesis Coupe.

No, the Tiburon 08 GT comes with a 2.7L V6, I do not think the Genesis is the Tiburon XD but, what did you think of the body kit?
