AKG K702 or Sennheiser PC363D

Hi guys, built a system recently and am in need of a headset/pair of headphones, predominantly for gaming.

My motherboard's an X99 Deluxe, I haven't got a soundcard so I'll be using onboard sound for the meantime. I'll be buying a Blue Yeti microphone to pair with either driver, could just do with some advice/experience from anyone.

The K702's are meant to be fantastic for gaming, being reference headphones, and I could use the Yeti as my mic for in game, it's just a matter of whether I'd get the full potential out of them without a sound card/amp and dac.

The sennheiser's come with a microphone, and also a USB sound card, but this doesn't look particularly good, would definitely be more convenient though, and I'd use the Yeti separately for talk overs and commentaries. Anyways, thanks guys, look forward to hearing from you's.

Depends on how much of your time will be spent listening to music... If it's around 50% music 50% gaming I'd be looking at investing in the 702 and a DAC down the line, any less and I'd just buy the headset :)

It'd probably be 70% gaming 30% music buddy, worth noting though, I can get the AKG's for £50 cheaper than the Sennheiser's, so I'm a bit torn.

Not really much of a hard pick here, AKG. With them being cheaper is a bigger bonus anyways. Also you're going to be getting a dedicated mic so the extra costs isn't worth it when you are not going to be using the built in mic anyways.

For either set up w/mic you need a soundcard as soon as possible however especially more so with the AKG. To drive it to its full potential it needs the extra power. Its possible that the mobo may not supply enough power to run them so they may sound off and quite.

Yeah, I am leaning more towards the AKG's with a dedicated mic, thing is, I don't plan on getting a soudncard/amp and dac any time soon, just spent far too much on my computer and peripherals, with the headphones being the last push, I need to hold off on spending really.

I'm currently just using Apple in ears to to play battlefield 4 haha, they do the job but there's 10x better out there. I'm planning on getting a PS4 down the line for some exclusives, Metal Gear, Uncharted etc, I'm mainly a PC gamer, but ideally would've liked compatibility with that as well, two birds with one stone.

I'm going to get myself a Blue Yeti for certain, that will do the job fine, for the headphones, its between the K702's without a sound card for the time being, the Sennheiser PC 363D's, hell, I've even been looking at the Astro A40's with the mixamp pro, but I know they'll be subpar compared to the others. Let me know what you think fellas, I appreciate your feedback.

If you don't want to spend alot of money for a while, just get a cheap-but-acceptable headset that works with a ps4 (Like a Corsair Raptor). That way you don't spend alot at first and it won't go to waste when you move to a proper setup.
