AF vs SP Fan on Radiator

Airflow vs static pressure fan when top mounted on a radiator (horizontal).

I need to pull as much air out since the case I'm planning on building next, only have the option of negative case pressure (Lian Li PC-O6S) and I don't want the fans sitting below the radiator to prevent dust built-up.

I currently have some Noctua NF-F12 Industrial PPC 2000 RPM fans, I guess I could use these but I wonder if the better option would be airflow fans in this situation, like the NF-S12B Redux? Or does it even matter? Is this airflow vs static pressure fans becoming a placebo effect these days?

If you ran the Server fans at max then they will win out due to plain grunt.

S12B redux is an airflow fan iirc

SP fans in normal rad scenarios will perform better at non retarded rpm's

what about the F4 Vardars fella?

Urgh.. Had some Vardars on my EKWB Predator AIO, they were terrible noisy! In idle they would make this chirping noise often, like the fan was rotating very uneven. Can't say I'm impressed with EK's fans... yet :)

Well yes, but the whole point is not to run the fans at max :) I don't like noise, so anything above 1200 RPM is a no thank you for me.

I'm using Vardar's fans atm and there whisper quiet to me there not noisy at all maybe your just unlucky or something.

It's quite possible. A lot seem to have had issues with the included fans on the Predator AIO's. My guess is the production cost of these might have been reduced, hence the quality went down in the process. I think those are are F4's though (the grey ones)

I'm using F4 in white atm maybe a rule is don't use the stock fans that comes with an AIO maybe i'm lucky or my hearing is screwed.

Varders are great

Otherwise a decent SP will be spot on. Low RPM's will either need pushpull or bigger rads remember though. Hardly spinning fans is the reason I have massively overspec'd rads in Orca

As long as it's a decently quiet fan it won't matter a lot. Air in a pc case moves so slowly anyways it won't matter if your fan does 0.5 H2O more than another.
I always recommend noiseblocker black silent pro fans. They have a widely used fan design and an inaudible motor. Kept the 295x2 cool and still does. Set them to 700rpm or 7v and be happy.
