Advise needed, case fans

I think we may have a winner! Thanks guys...

Treating the bottom of the case and the top as if they were two separate areas with their own inlet and outlet. Both the CPU and the GPU's are running much cooler. At least 10 degrees cooler for the GPU's and the CPU is way down maybe as much as 20! The D14 can now breath and do it's job and the G/Cards are not sitting in their own pool of hot air.

Given my obsession about dust I'm going to have to get and fit a pair of dust filters to the roof fans and remember that the bottom fan also needs a filter...

So as it stands now the two roof fans are in, back fan out. That looks after the CPU. Both front fans, bottom fan and door fan are set to in with the empty PCI slots covers removed assisting air flow from the G/Cards.

Glad to see you got it sorted

All bar one fan in, the back fan being the only one pushing out. I can feel warm air from the PCi area at the back. All of the fans are running quite slowlly. I have yet to tune the fan speed to find out quiet I can make the system. Using the simple dB meter on my phone it is showing 39dB about 500mm from the case (roughly where my head is) The same meter is reading 32dB in the quietest place I can find in my house. Just by hearing the PC right now I think she is still too loud. but at least she is running much cooler now that the air flow is not confused within the case. It would be nice to be able to fit the fan speed reducers back on the D14, right now I think it's the loudest thing in the case at idle.

Did you try, top fans out, back fan out, all other fans in?

That's how it started... front two in, bottom in, door in. Roof out, back out. It turns out the the air flow was confused and the fans were blocking each other.. By treating the top half and bottom half of the case as separate areas requiring their own inlet and outlet solved the problems.

I have managed drop the fans speed to help reduce noise. Still not as quiet as I would like but running a pair of 7970 on air I may never be as quiet as I would want.
