Advice on tidying up cables

Well i finished my build a while back now and i still haven't got round to tidying up my cables :(

Just wondering if anyone had any advice for a nice cost-efficient way of running the cables round the side of casing? Or any tips on tidying them up as neat as possible.

Cheers Jay :wavey:

Hi Jay, well theres a few ways to tidy your cables up mate. Personally i found that getting some heat shrink for your power supply cables and using any open spaces on the back of the motherboard mounting plate inside the case helps. Depending on the make of the case.. some cases come with pre-drilled / open spaces on the motherboard panel to aid with cable tidying for instance the Antec1200 has various slots on the back of the motherboard mounting plate to slot wires through.

this may help explain what i mean. http://forum.overclock3d.net/showthread.php?t=25863&page=2. Check out my pics further down the page, it may explain a bit more what i mean by putting the cables down the side of the hard drive cage

Hope this helps

Tie wraps and duct tape. Use the tie wraps to bundle the cables together and attach to the case when possible. Once the cables are behind the motherboard tray you can tape them in place with the duct tape.

And as steve said, get the cables behind the motherboard tray using the precut holes which are in most cases.

buy some sleeving and heatshrink, bundle all the cables togther sleeve then heat shrink :)

or bring out a dremel ;)

I thread my cables round the back of the motherboard than back round under the motherboard (fasten the mobo on top of them)

Also stuff excess cables anywhere u can (on top of psu, by drives)

Route cables behind the motherboard, round drives, edge of the fans.

The placement of some PSU's allow you to stuff cables above them, same with optical drives.

Zip tie to the inside of the drive bays.

Use Heatshrink, Spiral wrap, Cable ties, Braiding anything to neaten up the look of them.
