Advice on a gfx card.

Hey guys,

I am going to save and get a new graphics card to replace my 560ti, I don't want to spend more then £400 if I can help it and my pc specs are:

Corsair 600T
Intel i7 2600k
16GB DDR3
Corsair 850w psu
evga 560ti
with 120gb ssd + 1tb drive + 3TB

I do gaming and like to max games out, I also need cuda for my video editing and adobe work or I would pick up a 7950, My question is what would you choose and why? 660ti? 670? or a 680? I was going to pick the 670 but is the 680 worth the extra?

670 any day.
Next to no performance difference between the 670 and 680, so save your money.

Anything less than that (660ti/660 etc), the AMD equivalent performs far better.

Just get one with a decent aftermarket cooler.

Thanks James, I will most likely pick up a MSI 670ti Power Edition or maybe think about a Asus 670 4gb card since I may pick up a 27" Monitor (2560x1440).

Knowing me I will end up going SLI lol, and as much as i want to get the 7950 I cant as cuda helps a lot with my work.

I completly understand... but... boy oh boy that 7950... it's... beautiful! :X

No question about it, I want to pick one up lol but doing photography, web design and studying After Effects I'm stuck with Nvidia, If it was gaming only I would buy 2 and overclock since they are basicly as good as a 7970.

Yeah, not alot of performance wise difference between them. Overclocked, if all goes well I think you can match any score of a stock 7970.
Good luck! :)

I would go with the 670 and leave the possibility of SLI open, it's basically a 680 with a set of cuda cores locked up. The 660ti series is basically a 670, both have 1344 cuda cores, but the 660ti is only 192 bit rather than 256bit like the 670 and 680, which seems pretty wonky for the 300$ they want from it.
