Adding a second Hard Drive to my computer

Hi all,

I have an old hard drive sitting around doing nothing, so I was wondering if I could sweep all the data off and plug it in to my PC so I could offload music and work etc onto the second hard drive, sorry for being noob but is this possible and if it is...

How do I sweep everything off the other hard drive

How do I get it to work on my computer (i.e what RAID config and how to I set this up)

And does it matter if it is a different hard drive

Thanks :)

u should just have to plug in the sata/ide cable and power and ull be away best check the bios to make sure the proper boot drives selected, when u get to windows locate the drive in my computer/computer right click and go to format and ull be good to start copying files over there, you would only be able to use RAID if the current boot drive is exactly the same as the one you are going to install and when set up a raid u lose everything on both drives during the process so you would need to back up your stuff

If they are identical HDD's, yeah run a raid.

If not (like me) run what's called JBOD (just a bunch of disks). Just plug it in and it should appear as a drive in My Computer (might have to pop into the bios to set the HDD pirority) then format that way.

I have my raptor for OS/programs and the 250gb for games/music etc with a 50gb partition from the 250gb as my backup.

I've got it in and working :) Tried before but needed to go in the BIOS to sort out which drive I needed, I only had 500mb on my current one, desperately needed another 300Gb ^^
