hey guys ive been play around with the settings and this is what ive got on cpuz now

core speed 4009mhz

multiplier 20x

bus speed 200.4

qpi 3608.3 mhz

i enabled x balance which is supposed help for extreme overclocking (I think)

im averaging 40 degrees (is that normal/decent?)

and now i have to overclock the ram and the gpu

if I overclock my gpu would my games look better?

my core is on 50 mhz

shaders is on 100

memory is on 135

correct me if im wronf but doesnt the msi hawk go to 965mhz?

right chill out lol

a few questions first

i assume 40c is idle? what is your load temp?

what voltage do you have going to the cpu

i dont think they are your gpu corretc speeds that might be 2d mode altho they are a little low its half usaly

what gpu do you have

do you use afterburner

no I do not use after burner all these results are from cpuz. im at 4.2ghz now, idle now is 38 degrees I havent used prime yet because every time i try to download it i get some other software, voltage is 1.32v

I have 2 msi ngtx 460s in sli

i just tried prime then and literally 1 second and the pc shuts down:(

That means its not stable. Aim for 4ghz stable first with 1600mhx ram.

Need to know your rams rated speed and what you have it too in the bios aswell dude as your details have more holes than a fishing net!

Yo everyone I've been priming for 3 a half hours new settings are 200x20 ramm is at 2005 MHz CPU voltage is at 1.32 at 4000mhz

still going hasn't crashed!

Update everyone;) I've been priming for 9 hours now and it still hasn't crashed is that enough? I want to see if I can lower the volts because they seem abit high plus my Mex load is 50 degrees and my idle is 36 degrees is that good? I've been learning to overclock slowly but wants u get the hang of it it's fine

During OC I prime about 1/2 to 1 hour per step... after all

I often run a complete test which takes from 12 to 24 hours.

This works really great, but I think 9 hours should be really

enough. I never had a OC which was stable the first 9 hours and

got instable later :-)

It all sounds all right, try turn your voltage down a bit at a time, there is only so low u can go before its not high enough to run your CPU at 100%, but getting the voltage lower should take your temps down a bit to make it run even cooler.

Trial and error but your CPU temps seem all in the saff zone

I have a fully functional 4.09 ghz beast now! Max temp load is 51 degrees and idle is I'm at 1.29 volts now and it's been priming for 2 hours now:) next do u guys think I should do a second over clock on my second bios to 4.4ghz? Would I notice much? Plus most of u guys no I've been having ram issues not recognizing all 6gb and it still doesn't. Plus in CPUz it says I have 2 cores 4 threads? I'm lost but thank u guys so much for helping really appreciated you guys have any other methods of overclocking the ram and gpu?

You wont notice a difference going to 4.4GHz That more just a thing for fun to show off how high your system can go, Good for benchmarks and video editing and folding

, there isn't much out there that uses to much of your CPU or even all 6 or "12" cores.

As for RAM are you running a 64 bit operating system?

The ram thing is a comon issue, just google it and read. Its just a bad mount somewhere. Ive had it loads on my rigs.

that makes me feel better tom

but try and get this, I officially have TWO cores and four threads. Correct me if im wrong but the core i7 950 has 4 cores and 8 threads, with the ram ram ive resitted the cpu cooler 4 times so its not that, i think it may be the voltages and the timings which if anyone can guide on me on where to put the inputs in (i have the timings and the volts on a piece of paper.

just go to ram timings is blatantly obvious. Ram volts should be 1.65.

Go to CPU Config where spedstep ect is and make sure it says ALL CORES ENABLED

or you have not disabled some by mistake. Might also be worth updating the bios incase its a glitch
smile.gif

i just checked everything all the cores are enabled but it only has 1,2 and then all i selected all, put my ram timings and im still in the same position that i was 15 minutes ago

im seriosly considering rma ing the motherbord or the ram
