Abit 35-e -- no picture

I`ve thrown 2 of the following together, both giving same issue:

ABit 35-e

E6750 @ no idea can`t see anything

1 to 4 gig of Elpida 5300U-667 ddr2

XFX 8600 GTS 670

Seasonice S12 500

2 hdd, 1 optical (connected or not, u get the same thing)

Power on, does the stop, then restarts (no picture in each case). Does the single beep that everthing is hunky.. no picture.

Keyboard shows life exists (caps lock and numpad both illuminate when pressed)

Just can`t see anything.

Done a cmos clear, gonna remove battery now and see.

Any suggestions ? Seems happy, just no picture. Oh and I`ve tried both pcs, switched cards, changed memory (got 8 x 1g of the Elpida stuff 5300U 667)

Totaled the cmos, and nothing new.

Gotta pop out to stuff meh face with steak related items, gonna lean into some pc place and pick up some known name memory to see whats up. Got a strange feeling this memory isn`t to the liking. Just make it some 2x1g deal.

Try one stick of RAM in the furthest away memory slot, go into BIOS and tune up the volts. Then power off and try 2 stick

Dunno if you've tried it but worth a go

Just gave that a go now.

Popped in some pc6400 patriot and they`re doing the same thing.

Show all the signs of working.. cept no pic. Monitor works fine.

I can navigate around the bios menu blindly. I aint gonna go further then the simple things tho without being able t see stuff.

Seen some people posting about 1.8v default for ram. The patriot is like 2.2 and heck knows what the Elpida is - but I also see people with E6750 & Elpida 667 memory using this board. ffs this is hard work when ur not home with ur kit.

It shouldn't be your RAM giving you this particular problem.... If it were undervolted RAM it would more than likely just lock up during POST with both sticks in the preferred slots.

After everything you've tried I wouldn't rule out DOA motherboard. You've tried all the normal tricks.

Have you completely pulled the board and rebuilt the computer from the ground up once to make sure you weren't getting any weird shorts or loose connections?

Was quietly thinking that. However unlikely the 2 of them doing the same thing.. pfft u gotta try stuff.

Something stoopid going on I just know it. I bet if I had a pci gfxcard at hand it would show something.

Guyz posting in other places about having to put in 1.8v stuff and changing voltages, putting better ram in after, to stop it halting after cmos check, pfft gonna be wasting alot of time on this new`ish tech - shouldn`t have to.

I'm having the same problem, I have found out that if the PSU is replaced, the pc works fine for a few hours, leave it switched off over night, then it gets no display again. Looking at the CPU fan it fails to spin up when the display does not work, OK when you get a display.

Yesterday I replaced the Enermax 465w psu for a brand new Thermaltake 750w all worked fine until I tried to switch it on this morning. I have tried different memory and graphics cards too. So it looks like the systemboard is faulty, I'll contact Tekheads and ask them about RMA'ing it I think.

This is what I have tried in the PC

Original build

Abit IP35-e

2 x 1gb Corsair twinx PC6400 ram

Leadtech 7950GT 256mb

Enermax 465w PSU

SATA Maxtor 200gb hdu

IDE DVD +-RW

Never worked correctly due to faulty RAM, lots of errors after a few hours with Memtest86+.

RAM replaced with Geil Ultra PC6400 worked for 1 day, then no display.

New Corsair memory fitted, still no display.

Replaced the PSU, worked fine for 1 day then no display.

Yesterday drove a 100 mile round trip to buy a new PSU, the Thermaltake 750w fitted worked fine all evening, powered off and on ok, this morning, no display????

Outrunner, I'm having the feeling that I wanna get a visible boot, then try and flash this bios to whatever the newest is.

Thing is I`m not sure if 1 stick of ram (1.8v) or simply a pci card is gonna cut it.

I have a E6750,

I have taken the motherboard out of the case cleared the CMOS and booted with my original PSU, I can now see a display. I have upped the ram voltage as advised by one of the mods from the Abit forums, I'll connect a hdu to it and then see if I can up date the BIOS.

Before flashing the BIOS I have set the board off testing the memory with Memtest 86, no errors after 4 hours so far.

Ok, we`re up and running.

Here`s the story. Bought some more ram, bought a pci gfxcard. Popped in the ram... same thing. Popped in the pci card.. bingo! Picture.

So the thought there is whats going on. Went into the bios and selected pcie as the primary display. Still nothing. Now I`m thinking the problem is both the XFX cards are funky.

Here`s the deal. The XFX card come with a little addendum paper that says u have to use the 6 pin pcie power thing they supply. Me being me obviously figured pcie power is pcie power and used the psu one. THAT was the problem in these cases. The supplied pcie power that comes with the XFX is minus one of the central pins.

System is now installing windows, and recognizes the original Elpida 5300U memory I had.

The rant is now, which I dont feel like doing now, why isn`t a pcie power thingy standard ?? If XFX chose not to use one of the pins, they can cancel the pin card-side.

Food for thought Outrunner, hope u sort urs out soon.

That's very weird mate as the XFX 8600 GTS I had worked 100% fine with the PCI-e power from the PSU

Can`t explain it m8. For the record, it`s an XFX 8600 GTS 512m @ 675mhz, and the 6 pin connector has 1 thing missing.

Mine has worked out of the case all day yesterday, after resetting the CMOS, I turned it off last night, now it's not booting again same symptoms as before.

Thinking to my situation, I don`t think the psu gives enough "umph" through it`s pcie thing. Maybe a rail issue with the Seasonic S12 ?? dunno.

I know it`s a pita to suggest it, but perhaps a strip down to nakedness, then assembling a part at a time, checking for booting and beeps as u go along.

cpu, mobo, ram, gfxcard, should give u a satisfying beep atleast, outside of that there`s something faulty in the air. Forget drives etc for now.
