Just found this on amazon and thought i would share it with you. (link)

It is a power socket to molex lead, which would be very handy for powering a pump when making a water cooled build, saving you the time and effort of shorting a slave PSU to do it.

It id priced here at the low cost of £14

Other used could be powering fans, perhaps to test undervolting noise levels or even externally powering old optical or hard drives for file recovery, provided you have a molex to SATA adapter.

I think TTL will kill me if i do not mention a hose cutter, here is one example from XSPC. (Link)

It costs just over £7 but they are so much better than using scissors, and if you water cool in any way often it id definitely worth such a small price.

If there are any other handy tools any of you guys find or already know about please post it below.

Thought it was something else? What?

Any little tools you find handy for builds SieB? Good ScrewDriver sets or anything like that?

I've seen those before. I think my mate has one actually.

I've got an old unbranded 500w PSU myself that I use for things like that or testing fans.

Handy little tool especially for those that work on site, I personally use a old 300w itx PSU on my bench which I ripped from a Dell system, then added a 20pin blanking plate with a switch on it.

Nice find though WYP I may have to get one for work.

I thought it was something to short the PSU with, when in fact it is a PSU but just for the pump. It's why I said paperclip because you could just use a paperclip to short the PSU rather than buy something that shorts it for you.

This was before I realised it is an actual PSU to power the pump... it's been a long hard, hot day... i'm not thinking strait.

Haha, ok fair enough. I just think it would be handy for a few people here, especially if you need to use a slave PSU often.

Hell even TTL might want one for Builds, guides or reviews.

What the? I just happened to be watching Linus' video about Handy Tech Under $100 and this item was shown. I saw it at the exact same time I read this :D Thought I was going mad ...

Perhaps you are going mad... but i do admit it will be a handy thing to have (just ordered mine)

Linus' vid, it's the first time a video has actually instantly made me buy something lol.

When it comes I will be writing a review for the forums about it. It will save me the effort of slaving my PSU for refilling or redoing my loop, as I only have one PSU.

My 1000w PSU is not very handy to use like that TBH

Also added a hose cutter to the OP, as I remember that the Gov swears by his. (don't know what brand he used though.

Does anyone else have any handy tools for PC builds and water cooling? Wire cutters? anything?

I'm just going to be a lazy ass and unplug my CPU power and just turn my PSU on and off. My PC is probably going to hate me. If I'd found out about this earlier I would have bought it (I have braided cables so I didn't buy the paperclip thing).

I will let you know if my PC suicides.. ;D.

This is pretty neat so I'll need to pick one up sometime ><.

You can still do it with braided cables, you just need to know the pin layout.

If you hold the connector facing you with the clasp on top, the bottom row is pin 1 to pin 12 from left to right, and the top row is pin 13 to 24 from left to right, such that the separate 4 pins that are detachable are pins 11, 12, 23, and 24. To turn the PSU on you ground pin 16. Many of the pins are ground, but both pins to the left and right of 16 are ground, so it's easiest to remember those. Basically this means with the clasp at the top, connect the 3rd and 4th pins from the left on the top row.

I bridge the signal (green) wire with an earth (black) on a crappy scrap PSU.
I've used scissors, razor blades and a Cigar cutter to cut hose. The razor and Cigar cutter work best.
