A good card for maxing out most modern games with 60 FPS?

I am building my first build, but, i'm a totaly max settings adict, in any resolution i play at all. Since i am going finaly move to 1080p, has anyone got a GPU suggestion that can max out the modern 1080p games?

AMD R9 390 or GTX 980 will do the job (you can get away with 1440p if you lower some setings)

Like said above, the R9 390 or GTX 980 will max it out. Or... if you can stretch your budget, 980Ti and 1440p.

AMD's 390 or 390X, Personally I'd pony up the extra bit to get the 390X or even a 980 if it's in the same price range, All are good cards
