I was using my laptop just about to watch a blu-ray. Every thing locked up so i left it and made a brew came back and it was still frozen then a min later it blue screened and now when i try and boot it says "a disk read error occurred. Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart". What do you think could be a solution to restoring the drive because i need all the data off it! It is encryped with truecrypt but that was done a long time befor this happend. I was thinking if i clone the drive with a tool or something could i restore it to a new drive so i can get into windows and copy all the important data off it?

Thanks in advanced Koryusai-Kun

Try using the windows setup cd to repair the hard disk or take the hard disk out of the laptop and plug it into another computer to get important data and if the hard disk comes up empty (doesn't show files on the disk), use a data recovery program to recover files while it is connected to the other computer. Just make sure you don't write anything on the laptop disk or format it.

the laptop boots and gives the message "a disk read error occurred. Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart". tryed the windows cd. and the drive is encrypted with aes and two others.

What about cloning the drive to a brand new drive?

Try getting hold of Hirens boot disk and use some of the recovery tools i.e re-write the MBR for example, Hirens will also help you get off any data you want if you have to rebuild the OS although the encrption may prevent access to the disk/files
