Think we`re going to increasing find that people will be very indifferent about nVidia releases under their existing format.
Like if u stand right infront of some1 saying "look what we got" - and they`re looking over ur shoulder muttering "yeah yeah very nice, what`s that behind you, is it something exciting ?"
If the 9900GTX doesn`t prove to be an extremely good card, something that an owner of any existing card owner can feel they need to buy - ala when 8800GTX came out, it`ll continue to be the same.

Well the 9800GTX not blowing our minds was expected as it was just the same chip with go faster stripes but it was still an improvement.. This is all new so hopefully we should see some impressive gains.. Also even with the very limited details we have, the 512 bit bandwidth will help straight away..
They must know they can't just go and release another whole range of cards that only marginally beat out their last set which will only be a matter of months old by that point.. These must have more power!

Ya know though.. Everyone said the jump from 8xxx to 9xxx was stupid, but they've made that point so much more true now by naming these within the 9xxx range..
The current 9800 could so easily have just been the 8900 and then moved on to the 9xxxs in July.
Pah its probably been said enough times but it would just have made actual sense. They couldn't have been criticised for their stupid naming then.

Personally i think the whole naming issues that nVidia are slated for is quite a smart marketing sham, all those naive, ignorant, buyers (which are plenty more than all the clued up enthusiasts!!!) get caught out and buy all the wrong gear, just to have the newest named spec, it keeps nVidia's coffers flowing in between major generation jumps.
Because of that i do think the next cards could be a winner over previous gen. That and the fact that and nVidia got pretty damaging PR in all the pro enthusiasts and hardware circles for a poor/pathetic generational improvement, and crazy name branding... They can't really afford to
off all the big spenders again by relaxing there releases due to lack of ATI competition!!!
Also we all know that AA kills the bandwidth on most newer GPU's in new games, it's still the one reason why an OC 8800GTX might be worth it over stock 9800GTX when using 24"+ res. 512-bit interface would be a huge improvement, if this is true they wouldn't need to use expensive GDDR4/5, which means they'll hit better volumes... only thing is wasn't the 384-bit interface on the 8800 GTX real expensive for nVidia due the extra size of the chips??? Hence why they changed to lower 256-bit!?!?
Also every time specs for next gen hardware are leaked on the net the.. the final result is never close!!! Do a search on some of the old GPU release >

in all seriousness.. these cards are starting to come out really fast, but i dont see anything too impressive as far as performance is concerned. Now with a whole new core. I wanna see what it can pull. The G92 has been beated to death now. with the 8800gt/GTS and 9800 gtx/gts
im really curious to see what amd/ati pulls w/ the R770. but in all we need waaaay better driver support. The cards can pull more w/ better drivers.. so far the 9800GX2 is dying for a driver update and they are thinking about a new architecure..
