98860's Continuous Climb in F@H Ranking

Running both cpu & gpu. i7-3930k with 2 x gtx780ti

Very nice. What's your PPD like?

I have a single 780 Ti folding and it's not been that great lately. I have a few great days and then I get a string of bad WUs. It's all in the name of science so it doesn't really matter what I get.

My PPD has been fluctuating a lot the last few weeks too. One day my 680 is getting 20k PPD and the next it's getting 100k.

I'm fluctuating between 60 - 200K. The core 15 WUs are a real killer.

I don't know if you can edit your signature yet, but if you can, you need to surround the link with tags

It should then look like this:

Thanks.

Another question, sorry. My GPU loads seem to vary between 89% - 91%, any idea how to max them out ?

First of all congrats on reaching a million points :)

Everything below can be ignored if you already have a core assigned to each GPU. If you don't know what that means, please read on.

Regarding your question, you probably need to assign a core to each GPU you have folding. I'm assuming you're using the V7 client, which is usually downloaded directly from the F@H site?

If you're using the V7 client you need to edit the CPU slot and reduce the number of cores by the number of graphics cards you're running. For example, if you have an 8 core CPU and you're running two graphics cards, the number of CPU slots should be set to 6 (1 CPU core for each GPU). Bare in mind F@H doesn't distinguish between a virtual and a physical core, which means that a quad core CPU with Hyperthreading enabled will be recognised as an 8 core.

I'm not 100% sure about the significance of assigning a core to each GPU, but I believe it's required for Nvidia cards.

Making the above change should ensure that your GPU's are being utilized to their full potential. As far as I know, you shouldn't need to make any further changes. There are some members who are more experienced than me who may have some additional hints and tips.

All is currently set correctly as above. It appears to vary, so probably just the changing aspects of the WU. I've stopped CPU folding anyway, it didn't seem worth the power and heat for minimal points compared to GPU. Many thanks for all your help :D

No problem. There's nothing else you can really do then :)

Congratz on 1 million points!!!:)

Thanks for joining us we need all the help we can get. Also saw that a recent day's PPd was almost 400K, very nice indeed!

A little tip for you Nvidia GPU folders, if you set "client-type' to "advanced" in Extra Slot Options you will probably get all 1300/13001 WU's and avoid core 15 work;)

Many thanks, and glad I can help. I'll try that adv clent-type, but I haven't noticed a core 15 WU yet, all been 17's.

Edit:

Made the 2 million club today, another milestone cracked :)

Saw my first core18 WU, a pretty big one, are these new? common? points look ok-ish

Huge congrats, you'll be flying up the ranks!

Haven't seen a core18 myself yet.
