OK, I know this is a link to another forum - but it is simply the best guide for installing Linux for folding - its the one I used. It downloads and configures the folding at home client including the Kraken. However I was unable to use UNetBootin to install on an SSD...

Never folded with GPU's in Linux though - so can't help you there.
I'm not much on Linux, but with the V7 client I believe Linux GPU folding is supported. So it might have more to do with driver availability. IIRC Nivida will work but no support for AMD ATM.
