9800GTX Specs - not looking good!

thing is.. it will still be a fast card.. just not as much of a leep from the 7 series to the 8 series.. If the price isnt tooooo bad ill get one over my 8800GTS 640.

but 512mb? whats that all about...

I think this might be a hoax some how, then when its an ok card well still think wow because we'd been expecting something rubbish.

I`m hoping this news is like the announcements `they` made for the 9800GTX that turned out to be a surprizing (to me anyway) launch of the 8800GT.

Be crazy to bring the 9800GTX out for ~£300+ or something, with 8800GTX being ~£250 - if there`s no substantial performance difference.

Sounds bloody expensive for a re-packaged 8800GTS 512.

Whats the £80ish for? Another SLI connector and a new name?

In all honesty, if you take a look at the example screenshots posted on the expreview site, the dood claims a x9650@4g and a 9800GTX amassing 14750 after a 14014.

Switch it out for my 8800GT in a rig here and u get 138xx & 149xx, do we really think that is likely to be a GTX used on that site ?

The guy was also claiming it used a 8800GTS cooler.. well I pretty much think it cos it was a 8800GTS used, and the scores would suggest it too.

He does thank some guy for helping with the gpu-z massaging of the name. Also a eastern site was showing screens of a GTX where the gpu-z was calling it a 8800GTS.. definately something afoot imo.

Just bring the freakin card out!

Btw 3870x2s are slaughtering benchmarks for what it`s worth.

expreview have a strong track record. You admit yourself you are an nvidia fan boy but face facts bud, this gen looks like it sucks.

UNLESS there are HUGE driver issues (possible) or expreview are lying (unlikely, i've followed their news for a long time and it has always been accurate)...

In a way I'm glad as the x2 wasn't such as waste, conversley i'm sad that there is no uber card to buy.

Guess the truth will be revealed at launch (oh, the new gtx might do really well irl, i'm hoping it rocks but i doubt it)

On the face of what we`re being fed, it does indeed suck to an extent.

Just banking on the naming being wrong >.<

Be a weird state of affairs, the purchasing initiative is hardly there for the gtx info we`re seeing atm. It`s an improvement for sure, but very finite. GTX vS GTX is not a pretty picture imo.

Ultra ? bah

Why would it require 2 power connectors ? Thinking in terms of 8800GT and the likes and the comparitive performances.

Does the 8800GTS take 2 power connectors ? Don`t think so.

Yeah you`d have 6 then tho wouldn`t you ?

EDIT: Btw, we`ve been banging on about how unreliable 3dmark scores are recently amoungst ourselves and increasingly on other discusion places, and yet we`re holding light to the recent results. Why`s no-one posting Crysis benches or something ?
