900D Dream Build

Hey Mike, I seem to go through your state of thinking on a daily basis and i've been continusouly building my rig for over 2 years, in reality its actually running just fine but i'm still thinking about a new MB and CPU.

Anyway seriously on yours, on the motherboard I personally would either rush out and get a Rampage IV Extreme and change processor because thats my idea of 'dream' seeing 4 ram modules on each side of the CPU socket OR wait the extra few weeks for the Maximus VI Formula, see how that is and go with that.

On the graphics cards I would (and did) go with SLI 780's over a Titan, but hey if its unlimited funding get SLI Titans obviously.

900D? Just saying I was confused when you said I want a 900D and then followed on saying it was going to be a single cpu and gpu build with 2 radiators. I know this is dream and unlimited funding etc but what are you going to do with all of that space :/ not as a crit but i'm just not sure how you will make it look right. And i'm the biggest Corsair Fanboy ever I know I don't need a 900D! It would be like owning bear that eats hardware and you would never see it again.

My mind is now made up.
asus vi formula z87.....i hope its out at the end of this month. This is one sexy looking board...
my sons got the z77 sabertooth in his build.
Now to price up my top rad and bottom rad....tubing....comp fittings..655 pump...tune res...and 14 sp120 fans red.

Any ideas of the rads i would need up top and bottom.I need 2 bays up top for my bd-writer and bd rom(i need both for dvd dup).
I need nice clear tubing and red coolant....any ideas on that would be of help.
im so looking forward to the build at the end of this month.
My wifes son wants to come over from blackpool and steal my glory..hes just done his rig....

Still not decided yet on a titan or 2 780s in sli to go with my LG EA83 2560x1440 led.

Nearly all of the time two 780's will have a monumental advantage. Unless you planned to get more Titans they seem pointless to me.

Get SP120 PWM Performance Editions and Corsair Link, if you like that kind of thing, I enjoy playing with it and having the massive acoustic and performance range.

for the roof you could fit a monsta with one set of fans or a 60mm push pull. the 60 push pull set up overlaps over the board a bout 5 mm or so so make sure if your cpu power cables are at the top make sure you have them nice and flat. fitting the top rad is a little bit of a hassle so if you need get someones help. a 360mm rad enters the top two drive bays so it will be the bottom two. be prepared to be ridiculed by the forum members for having an internal odds. so really you could have any of the common sized rads in whatever thickness. at the psu side only run one fan if you have push pull the fan will practically be rubbing the psu lol.

Update

Hi guys.
Finally got my 2 GTX 780 hydros from scan plus my Asus Maximus Z87 Formula, jesus,it took nearly 6 weeks since my last posts to get these.
Along with all my fittings (EK-CSQ black nickle comp fittings and black 45s /90 degree fittings,im almost ready to start my build in this 900d case.

Im a little bit stuck on a couple of issues, and could do with a little help please.

1st
Sli fittiing between the two hydros on the maximus 6 z87 formula red slot 1 and 2..i think its about 32mm plus your threads in and out of the blocks..its quite hard to keep 2 cards steady on the m/board upon a box with a tape measure.
Its giving me quite a headache as to what to use.
Ive asked about other forums, but no one is any the wiser.
surley someone has this combination.Mr logan himself reviewed the board(i would app a link to the fittings i should use for this board and cards combo).
i was looking at koolance sli and ek hd acrilic tubes and adapters, but the more i look the more it does my head in.

Any help as to what to use guys would be a help.

2nd
the rads im using are the Alphacool ut60s 480mm bottom and 360 at the top(i need it this way for my Aquaero lcd.
My issue is i dont think i can use all the sp120 quiet fans i bought, for push pull.i think i should have got 45mm rads.what do you think.i bought them from specialtech so should be able to exchange them.

I hope some peeps can help me out.I will post a pic of my bits n bobs and some during the build.
:headscratch:

Two identical threads?

Tisk tisk, you shouldn't be doing that.

Pick one section in future!

I've deleted the other thread - I'm also moving this to 'new build advice' as after 2 pages, it's still advice about which parts to buy.
Feel free to post again in 'Project Logs' after you get the parts and start the build.

Thanks

If you imagined there was an extra PCIe lane where the CMOS is between the 2 red slots, then it looks like it's just a standard 2 slot gap.

The EK HD Tube + Adapters you mentioned do a 2 slot version so I'd give that a shot. They have a demo picture on ST here:
http://www.specialtech.co.uk/spshop/customer/EK-HD-Tube-1012mm-2-Slot--2-Pack-pid-18384.html

Alternatively you could get a 3 slot one and file/sand it down to perfect size. This is what I did when I needed a piece a bit smaller than 2 slots to fit between my 2nd GPU and flow indicator. If you do this, make sure you try give the end of the tubing a 45° bevel and sand it nice and smooth so as not to damage the O-rings on the adapters upon insertion.

Thanx for that, will put a set of these and the male adapters plus the koolance extend sli fitting on my order from specialtech, should all come wed /thur this week and see which one works the best.
Any one know were i can buy the chamfer kit from to do the edges.(ie B&Q)
