If anyone could give me any advice on this build it would be much appreciated.
Thanks. :-)

Case: Is quite a nice case for the price
CPU: best choice for a gaming rig atm imo
MB: MSI Z77A-G45 (£77)
SSD: good choice
RAM: 8gb are enough
GPU: Gigabyte 7950 (£245)
ODD: do you really need one?
PSU: Corsair Builder Series CX 500 (£49)

I'd also get a CPU cooler (some thing like the 212 from coolermaster) and you should also upgrade your screen to a 23'' ips; Dell U2312HM (£170) or Asus PA238Q (£208)

With the new generation cpus ocing is almost a must imo, it's so easy
SLI/Crossfire: you'll never need this for a single screen, especially not for the one you have right now

If you have a spare copy of something like windows xp you can get an upgrade kit to windows 8 64bit for £40 which will give you £20 to put towards something else. Of course you could always save the hassle and just get the one you picked :p

EDIT: Here is the modular CX500

Case looks neat but it's not that cool, I mean literally cool... Sad to say but when we're talking about delta temps, this Shinobi is one of the worst cases having over 10c higher temps than the ones I would suggest. I'd rather pick up Antec One or Antec Three Hundred Two :)
I'm also concerned about that SSD choice, as Samsung 840 uses TLC (Triple-Level Cell) technology where each cell has about 1000 write times before it dies. My advice would be to buy a Samsung 840 Pro SSD because they use MLC (Multi-Level Cell) technology that lasts for 3000-5000 writes.
Last thing I was wondering is the OS... I understand that Windows 8 is the latest OS there is, but if I was you, I'd still choose Windows 7.

Go with the 7950 instead of the 660ti, get a cheaper powr supply, 8 gigs of ram should be enough for gaming, motherboard's a bit expensive, go with a G45.. other than that you seem fine. Good CPU choice.

The monitor I'm only using for a month or so till I'm at work again, and plan to get a much better monitor, so thanks for the suggestions. I may consider looking at that mobo, but I'm pretty happy with the ASRock one.

I've actually seen some really good reviews of the Shinobi, and really keen to get it, I'd be happy to have extra fans to compensate.

About the SSD, I haven't heard this before, and that is a little concerning. The 840 Pro I can probably just afford, and I presume it is well worth the extra cost? I was also looking at the write speeds, and there's a huge difference. Thanks a ton for the advice.

Yeah, that Shinobi for sure is a good case but I'm kinda temp freak so I always look cases from that point of view  It needs to be cool from inside as well as outside.
And again, you have to make your own choices, but if I was planning to buy a new Samsung SSD, it would definitely be the 840 Pro. I know it costs a bit more but I wouldn't risk my data with normal 840, just my opinion though. You're welcome mate :)

This. But go for the modular CX500 as suggested before. It'll save you some headaches.

Just wanted to give the Gigi 7950 a plus one. Using one for the last 2 weeks, brilliant in every way. Really quiet, keeps nice and cool and there's plenty of horse power for any modern game @ full HD.

Brilliant as long as you can stand the god awful blue PCB. lol

That might be a slight issue for some, but I have the stock Fractal 3000 (no window in the side panel) so I couldn't care less about that. :D

Get the NZXT hale.. Motherboard isn't incredibly important nowadays just grab the cheapest one with all the bells and whistles you need. The most important feature nowadays in a motherboard IMO is purely the aesthetics ... so just grab the cheapest mobo that matches your rig has SLI and whatever other features you need / want.

id strongly recommend better brand mobo and psu, asus or msi for mobo and corsair or antec for psu.

apart from that it looks ok, shinobi isnt my favorite but its still a good case.

Everything looks pretty good to me. Consider going to a pawn shop and buying a nice second-hand 36" or 42" tv with HDMI inputs and use that for a monitor ;)
