Is it worth upgrading

I'm in the process of upgrading various components and wondering if it's worth upgrading my memory from Dominator Platinum 32GB 2666 to Platinum 3200 MHz version. Will there be much of a difference in performance bearing in mind I may be upgrading my CPU to a 6950x if and I mean if it drops sub £1k. Either that or I might wait untill we see how the new i9 stuff works out first and hold out for a 7900x

LOL, I was joking, I got the idea :fish:

haha no worries dude :D

Edit. If you want a quick dirty upgrade dude AMD Ryzen 1700 + B350 Strix. Overclock it to 4ghz (or as close as you can get) and you will be hitting like 1700+ points in Cinebench, compared to around 1200 (overclocked) on that 5930k.

Might be a decent upgrade for now.

Admittedly although I've been an avid Intel user for the past 10 years, I am now open to the new AMD stuff so I;m keeping my eyes on both at the moment. ^_^

Now I dont need to upgrade any memory I'm getting a 1TB Samsung 850 Pro for my games

Storage is always a good idea :)

Seriously though, the 1700 and B350 Strix will cost you about £400 and will easily beat a 5960x, which would be an upgrade for you. It's probably cheaper than a 5960x too lol.

Based off his signature, I don't think upgrading to Ryzen is going to benefit him at all

Well it's basically going from a 6 core 5930k to an 8 core 5960x with higher IPC.

I would.. Well, I would if I was thinking about spending a fortune going from 2666 ram to 3200 ram.
