I was hoping EVGA would release a ACS3 one, double slot like their other cards like that.

Dont like that cooler one bit. The sparkle one with dual cooling fans looks nice too though.

Will probably just go with the cheap EGVA one and add a 3rd party cooler. HR03 gt is too big so ill probably go with one of those metal heatsinks and zalman vf1000.

the cooler looks the same as any 8800gt,but saying that my other evga looks the same as a reference card but idles cooler so they must do something right

I fancy it'll go for more than a normal etailer. Strange place ebay..

It's only £165 + postage for the asus on ST..which comes with a 15 quid game.

Thats the one I bought... Oooo gotta update my sig.

3 year warranty and clocks pretty well too.

Seeing as this is the most recent 8800GT thread, can any1 measure the mounting holes about the gpu, or perhaps offer it up against a 6800/7600 and see if they`re the same position. Looks darn similar to me, just the 4 main holes about the gpu.

Just ordered an EVGA 8800 gt KO. God knows when I'll be getting it.. Says it should be with me on the 19th. I can't wait! I'm hoping for some good aftermarket coolers to surface in the coming months.

Nearly have rig finished :) Might even risk Vista.. maybe

they are not due in untill the 23rd though...

EDIT:

just ordered an xfx one, just the standard 600/1800 so hopefully will have some fun o/c it

No it says 23 on the 16th there, may be a typo but I doubt it.. if anything they got their times mixed up. Over-clockers are getting a ton in on the 16th crysis is released too. Seems like it'll be in on the 16th.

I was looking at EVGA KO but I thought I'm adding a custom cooler and overclocking it myself anyway I cant see the point.

Thats the SSC one, just overclocked. no ACS3 one yet, the 8800gts and gtx varients have custom evga coolers.

yeah but all the 8800gt evga cards have the same cooler, which in turn is the same as the reference coolers

I went for it mainly because I've already got an EVGA. And I'm not taking the sticker off my case :)

I believe its warranty also covers changing of the stock cooling, which, as soon as something decent comes out will be changed.

Hi,

im hoping to get an 8800 GT but not sure which model to buy.

From the charts on tomshardware it says the 8800 GTS 320 performs better on Battlefield 2142 then the 8800 GTS 640.

To me this seems a little farfetched.

Whats your views on this?

The 320mb GTS doesn't beat the GT at anything... I sold my GTS for my GT for that reason. The 640mb will beat the GT at really high res due to the higher memory and bandwidth but thats only in a couple of games.

On that chart it shows the 640mb is better at higher resolutions. Which is really the aim of the 640mb model. At average frame rates of around 100fps, the 8fps difference it shows on the first means almost nothing really.

However an 8800gt is a different card and doesn't feature on that chart, it should beat both of those cards easily. In terms of getting hold of one, its limited mostly by stock. If you've got a liking for a certain brand then theres your answer. There's plenty of pre overclocked ones too if that's what your after for a little more cash.

I have an EVGA KO version coming when they appear back in stock. I'm hoping it'll play Crysis reasonably in DX9 and Bioshock and UT3 well in DX10. Hoping :)
