8800 + Oblivion?!

Okay, My christmas prezzie was a 8800GTS! :D

But it doesn't run very well with Oblivion!

I get bad frame rates and flickering shadows. Oblivion said it was an Unreconized card.

Am I in trouble? Is there a patch anywhere?

I ahve the lastest 8800 Drivers. 97.xx or something like that.

1440 x 900 res and maxed settings!

I know the 8800GTS can handle Oblivion EASY! Look at Kempez's review!

Thanks for the Quick reply HAm! ;)

Hmm, oblivion is a very driver bias game. Are you using the same drivers as Mr Kemp? and have you patched oblivion to the latest release?

It says in the review lol. Same as yours (ish).

Looking at the scores he got, his min FPS was 22 on the XFX 8800GTS. And thats under a c2d oced. My best suggestion would be to turn down the settings a little so it dosn't drop. Google the Oblivion tweek commads aswell, as theres hundrends of options you dont get given.

This may seem like defeting the point of gettting the 8800, but ive said it over and over. Oblivion isnt an FPS orentaied (sp?) game. And even turning down the settings a little it will still be stunning.

Also there is an Nvidia driver written specificly for Oblivion somewhere, although i dont know if it supports the 8 seires.

Hope you get it sorted, and just wanna say Santa has been nice to you this christmas, you must have been a very good boy, lol.

Need to get my missus posting on here and see if my present improves.:p

lol, Well I think I will have to wait till the next driver rev from Nvidia!

I have one more question!

What is a good Temp for a slightly OCed 8800GTS on stock?

Im getting around 75oC..

Too hot?

I can't say for the 8800, but both my 7800 (desktop) and 7900 (laptop) get ~80C at load, so I don't think it's anything to worry about.

Oblivion was running fine with the 8800 and a c2d @ 3.3GHz. Remember that it's very CPU intensive.

I also ran 8 x AA and 16 x AF

I can`t say I`m in shock, the game is very very poorly written.

I`ve seen better `looking` games than this run on lesser spec pcs and consoles.

Try installing 8g and buy a E6700 another 8800 and oc everything - then it may look and play like a decent game.

I sense a bit of bitterness in your post =\

Oblivion ran fine for me on max settings with a Pentium D 930 1gb ram and a 7600 GT xXx

i think oblivion looks great, it plays really well, sliders fully maxxed, x16AF and x16CSAA, but i just don't really like the game itself *shrug* :(

looking forward to crysis tho (and anything new really :P)
