8700k Temp Thoughts

Well considering you haven't mentioned the temps, I'm assuming you want us to give you an idea of what it is? (which will be rather difficult)... Despite that, you haven't mentioned what cooling solution nor what components you are using either.

I did insert a image but it's not showing:mad:

Looking at those temps 82c peak doesn't look so bad for 5ghz I'm am guessing it has not been de lidded?

I'm with Eddie here, considering this 82c peak temp is when your basically smashing the CPU to it's fullest, which is a load you'll basically never do on a daily basis, I'd say you're fine.

Those temps seem fine to me Zan i'm on a 4790K and hit high 70's with a custom loop

Al buddy, might wanna repaste ;) with my 4790K at 4.6Ghz I barely see 62c full load on the H100i V2, only during the height of last summer did I see mid 70s.

Yes mate I have been a bit lazy with my rig as of late but i'll make some time over the weekend to get it done.

As other have said, for 5Ghz on prime that really isn't that bad.

definitely consider delidding though. I just got my 6600k delidded and wow, what a difference!!

For gaming in most situations a CPU clockspeed no where near 5.0ghz is fine.

When gaming I hardly ever use more than 4.0ghz and that is sometimes with up to 4 GPUs.

Pretty sure for the last few years now, they have proven that there is no gain for gaming over 4.4ghz.

Could change in the future, but I have never seen a boost more than 3 or 4 fps which to me is not worth it given the power the cpu will guzzle.

^ That is 100% dependent on the game. CS:GO benefits near linearly from clock speed, and scales well with memory speed as well.

Yes and no, even CPU intensive games such as WoW, I saw zero gain going above 4.4ghz. And that includes the introduction to Dx12. Obviously the statement is on its last stand now, we are going above 4 Cores, but until now it stood true. There will always be exceptions of course such as CS GO which is extreeeeemely old. The majority of titles however fall under that category of little/no gain over 4.4.

I mean I could use Syndicate wars as an example to counter myself where using a cpu today would speed the game up so fast it is nigh on impossible to play.

Wasnt Deus Ex Mankind divided also a good representation? There is one benchmark used for a considerably amount of time which verified it.
