hi forks i am planning on upgrading my system i have i5 4670k oc to 4.2 on a asus pro z87 motherboard 8gb ram 1tb hdd and a asus 7970 directcu gpu and was thinking of adding another 7970 or should i sell the 7970 and buy a gtx 780ti instead. not sure what to do any help would be great.

Well 780ti is slightly slower but consumes less power. Me personally i would sell both and get a 290x since they are much cheaper now and can still get an aftermarket card for quite cheap compared to a 780ti. No point in spending more money for comparable performance.

If selling will be too big of a hassle another 7970/280x will still be a very good performance upgrade.

to be honest, if you can wait, wait. but otherwise as stated above the 7970 in cfx will generally be faster, if the 780ti is the only other option that you are willing to consider, then I would suggest the 780ti unless you are willing to consider the r9 290(x), would you mind telling me why you are upgrading?

Option 1 - Another 7970, most powerful option of the 3.
Option 2 - 290x - Current tech and generally around 30% more powerful in games than a single 7970, about 30% slower than 7970 crossfire, not much cost difference than 7970 crossfire after the sale of your current one.
Option 3 - 780ti is a little slower, maybe on par with the 290x so is the extra £100 getting you? (I based this on the MSI Gaming editions), also the most costly option.

My recommendation would be single 290x as you'll be getting 30% more performance in gaming than you already have, better support for larger screens with the 4GB VRAM ^_^
